    Digging new pool costs....

Hi all, We just sold our home with a pool, with the plans of building a new house down the line. Does anyone know if it would save money to dig/install the pool at the same time as the foundation was being dug? Wasn't sure if this is even a good idea. I just thought that combining the jobs...

Advice on cleaning dirty water line by white steps

Hi there, My pool has been clear all summer, no algae or obvious water issues. I am having an issue with the white steps into the pool though. They are beginning to yellow a bit. Also, at the water line, it looks dirty(grayish stains). Am wondering what this is from and looking for tips on...

    Low CH

Hi All, My CH is 200. I think I understand that this can be bad for the equipment and metal. Would the low CH be causing a yellowing on my white pool steps? I also notice a more distinct dirty line at the water line on these same white steps. I don't remember this happening last year...

Need to replace water hose on slide

Great thanks! I think I will start with buying just the tubing first. I'm thinking of soaking the fittings in vinegar to clean out the buildup. I have a feeling buildup is what caused the trickle of water, in addition to a cracked tube.

Need to replace water hose on slide

Hi there, The small water tube that runs up the slide to squirt water onto the slide needs to be replaced. My slide looks like a standard slide with a curve. I can't find any labels on the slide to indicate the brand, type, size etc. I've seen replacement tubing parts on-line, but am...

Need help on new Taylor test kit-chlorine test stays pink...

Thanks for all the replies. I did a few tests over the past week, using both the large and smaller amounts, trying to figure out which was better. I think I had it in my head that the last test using the 25ml sample would require fewer drops. My pool water is still very cold, so that must...

Need help on new Taylor test kit-chlorine test stays pink...

Hi all, First time using new Taylor testing kit and I feel like I'm doing something wrong with the chlorine test. I added the 2 tiny scoops for the powder stuff and the water turns pink. I then add the drops, one at a time to determine FC. After about 20 drops, I stopped(water was still...

Can I leave winter cover on for pool start up?

Hi there, My pool is surrounded by trees that will drop seeds until June. It's cold enough that we won't swim anyway til mid-June. I was thinking of filling up the pool and essentially doing the opening process without removing the winter cover. Obviously I'd have to pull it back a bit to...

What is the big deal about using gizmos in skimmer?

First time closer and am just full of questions today. If you blow out the skimmer lines of water, add anti-freeze, drain pool water well below skimmer opening, and cover(my cover also covers skimmer lid)-Why the need to use the gizmo thing? I don't understand how that much water can get into...

Is it normal to have an unused return line hole?

Do most pools have an overflow port or an autofill? I'm not familiar with either and am not aware my pool has this, or maybe it does and I didn't know. I'll try the rag around the hose bit. That makes sense. Thanks!

Is it normal to have an unused return line hole?

When you say to stick hose in third return and see where water comes out-where exactly should I be looking?

Is it normal to have an unused return line hole?

Through trial while blowing out lines is how I determined which line went to each skimmer/drain. My skimmers only have one hole at the bottom. I don't think there is anything besides a tree stump in the mulch, although i've never really looked. I'll check that out when I get home. At his...

Is it normal to have an unused return line hole?

The 3 valves/lines control-skimmer 1, skimmer 2, & main. It is my understanding that line 1 goes to skimmer 1, line 2 to skimmer 2 and line 3 to main drain. Is this correct or could any of these lines be connected underground? I've read some post that talk about the skimmer and main being...

Is it normal to have an unused return line hole?

No, it is not by either skimmer. If you picture a kidney shaped pool, it is located on the side curving in.

Is it normal to have an unused return line hole?

Hi all, I've been wondering and am looking for the expertise of the pool guys on here. My freeform pool has 2 return jets on each end of the pool. There is also a third return jet on one side, but I've never felt water coming out. I've owned pool for one summer, so I have no idea if jet ever...

Need help blowing out return lines and main drain

Ok, so I've finally figured out what each of the 3 valves control. When I blew out main drain, I never saw bubbles, but I did make the string move. Since my vac wasn't strong enough to make bubbles, I'm thinking I'd feel better adding some antifreeze to main line. In order to do so, do I need...

Need help blowing out return lines and main drain

I've always been a bit unclear on what valve control what pipe. I know that when I close the two red handled valves, I can vacume out of the far skimmer. Can anyone tell me what the third valve(missing red handle) should control? Do these pics show that I have separate lines for skimmer...

Need help blowing out return lines and main drain

I don't know how the pipes are plumbed. This has always been an area of confusion for me. There are 3 valves that I can turn on/off. Ive been able to figure out that two of the valves control/effect the two skimmers. I truly don't see much of a difference on anything when I turn the 3rd...
