Inground vinyl liner installation in the rain

I hate cliffhangers - what ever came of your wrinkles? Did they get better through the summer? Also, any wisdom you can share from your liner experience? I am just now starting to get estimates. Did you shop different liner brands, thicknesses, etc. or just rolled with what the installer...

Zodiac / Jandy pump cover removal tool?

I have one of these Jandy locking lid and gasket. Thanks to slowly creeping in arthritis I'm having a heck of a time opening and closing the cover. Is there some sort of tool that is available to give me better leverage?

Pool pilot fuses ... will any kind work?

Thanks - I purchased a set of 3A fuses at Home Depot for about $3 and I'm now back in business after a quick insert.

Pool pilot fuses ... will any kind work?

It is a glass fuse, I just tried to remove it and I failed dramatically, it shattered. Now I'm confused... According to the board it should be a 6A fuse. But the cap on the fuse I just took out says 3A 250V. Is this a case of "6A @ 125V" = "3A @ 250V"? Does W=VxA apply to fuses?

Pool pilot fuses ... will any kind work?

My pool pilot failed to turn on yesterday, so I took the cover and metal cage off and noticed that one of the fuses seems very blown. The 6 amp fuse at the bottom of the board. I would like to order a generic 6 amp fuse, do I need to order a pool pilot branded 6 amp fuse? Or will any 6 amp fuse...

The age old issue: Cloudy water only during and after high bather load

Opening to a green swamp EVERY year

I understand the stance but with the funnel and semi-rigid tubing, the liquid chlorine is jettisoned into the pool several feet away from the liner and in liquid form it is dispersed fairly quickly & doesn't settle like a solid or powder. I move the hose to different quadrants of the pool...

Experiences with claiming faulty closing (line blowout)

I figured as much - when a line freezes and cracks, what are the chances the closer will admit to it being fully their fault as opposed to a design flaw or one of a myriad of possible other reasons for the damage. I'll do as Newdude suggested, focus on finding someone that has been doing...

Experiences with claiming faulty closing (line blowout)

Also wanted to mention I have a large area of elaborate concrete and stone patio all around my pool. A damaged line would be catastrophic.

Experiences with claiming faulty closing (line blowout)

I have always opened my pool, and only hired a large local pool company to blow out my lines. Recently I saw some nextdoor site recommendations for local guys that take care of full opening and closings for reasonable prices. I called one of these guys and was pretty impressed; for about the...

Opening to a green swamp EVERY year

I have a loop-loc cover and have learned to grab a case of shock and use a funnel with semi-rigid hose squeezed under the cover to dump a couple gallons in late March, when the pool is still crazy-cold. Preventing that initial algae grab is key. By the time I open in May there's usually a little...

Pool Pilot Digital - Check System light is blinking with a not so verbose error msg...

The cell looks perfectly clean - it always has looked immaculate. I'll get some contact cleaner and try cleaning both sides of the cord to see if that makes any difference. Thanks!

Thanks for the article and troubleshooting advice. I'll work on that today. This is a 2008 build, all swg components are original.

Pool Pilot Digital - Check System light is blinking with a not so verbose error msg...

Hi - after years of drama-free service my Pool Pilot 'CHECK SYSTEM' light is blinking red. It now alternates between the usual display, ie: Purifier 70% 1:32AM 87F ON and this new message: WARNING! Check/C So I did the only thing I know to do: Menu -> "Test Pool Pilot" and see the...

Heat pump - fan running, not heating

Thanks all for the help. Got a $12 cap that matched the OEM's specs, popped it in and the heat pump is cranking away beautifully. Phew!

Heat pump - fan running, not heating

Looks like this is the OEM replacement: https://www.parts4heating.com/Jandy-R3001203-80-370-Capacitor-p/r3001203.htm But it's $111. I can get a quality 80uF 370 for under $20. Any reason not to go with a generic?

That's what it says on the cap itself. It's a lot bigger than the one in this link - I'll upload a picture of it tomorrow.

Heat pump - fan running, not heating

You were right on about that capacitor. I called up my bro-in-law that knows a lot about hvac systems and he tested the cap (80 uF, big boy), even though it doesn't look bad it's only showing 9.5 when tested. We first thought it was the contactor since it looks like a wire clean burned off of...

Heat pump - fan running, not heating

Since I opened my pool this year our mostly trouble-free heat pump (Jandy AE2000T Air Energy 103k BTU HP) has been making me a little nervous because sometimes although the fan kicked on, it was obvious from the temp of the returns as well as my swg's thermometer that it wasn't heating. Turning...

Realistic life of in-ground liner and possibility of using poolborders product to extend?

Realistic life of in-ground liner and possibility of using poolborders product to extend?

Our pool has the original liner, built in 2008. Below the water line it seems great. At and above the water line, it is a little faded, a little stained, and I have a small tear above the water line where the liner has always been awkwardly stretched through an corner. I patched it with a clear...

    Weird weir

For a glue-in-place weir, does it never come off? What about over the winter? I'm so used to that #$%^ing thing coming off 7 times a day I can't wrap my head around a solution where it CAN'T come off.

    Weird weir

Aaaaaah, I see what you're saying. Hey that's pretty interesting - the only thing is how do I attach the clamps to the bottom of the opening? Can I drive screws right down into the bottom of the weir opening? Something about power tools, screws, and my essentially irreplaceable skimmer opening...

    Weird weir

I'm having trouble envisioning how I could make this work, but even if I could wouldn't a metal clamp corrode quickly in a pool?

    Weird weir

Would it stay though, considering how the sides are tapered in like that?
