    New Pool step weights

I was gonna use the pickle bucket cause it has a nice lid with gasket that I assume would seal better than a standard one is all.

    New Pool step weights

I am still tweaking this design. There aren't many attachment points for my PVC weights. Had another thought. Wanted opinions on. 5 gallon bucket of pea gravel in a food service filled container. The are 3 bucks at firehouse subs. Hopefully the pickle smell wouldn't leach out:D

    Vacation insurance?

Pool survived vacation well. Not sure if it was from the Poly 60 or thanks to the neighbor dosing couple gallons couple times. Just keeping seeing the mustard come back. Not sure if its just dead stuff thanks to the poly or growing. I brush it around and vaccum. Checked my chlorine loss...

    Vacation insurance?

Sounds good don't have a cover as of yet. Mine tore opening this year. Does the poly 60 do reduce the chlorine? Just wondering if I should take it a little higher. I will also have the neighbor dump a gallon a couple times. Just didn't wanna have to have him here everyday. Thanks!

    Aquabot Jr shot?

Purchased a new aquabot jr 31 days ago. What the return period? 30days. :-( It comes on for a 4-5 seconds then goes off. After a while, I got it to run 3-4 minutes, then it stops. Reset and repeat. Has to be a timer or what ever tells it to reverse I am assuming. Not a lot on the...

Thinking of getting a new pump. Best bang for buck?

It was rainy but we still managed to do all that and put three ton of rock down around the pool. Skirted at tornado in the area yesterday and all I could think was please don't mess up the pool after all that hard work ha ha. Thanks!

Thinking of getting a new pump. Best bang for buck?

Follow up. I installed the new motor and seals Saturday AM. Battle to get the impeller off. Had to take the armature out and put in a vise. Rewired and finally re-plumbed. Using my Kill-A -Watt meter I measured the old pump at 9.73 amps and calculated it used .72kwh/hr at $.13/kwh. Running...

    New Pool step weights

I prefer to think of myself as value conscious  Have a bunch of 3" pvc pcs and a bag of concrete left over from another project so. A couple caps and I am on my way! I assume they could be filled with sand as well but I have the concrete.

    New Pool step weights

Got some new steps and ready to float. Like the ideas here about being able to remove the weight. Fought the old ones the previous had filled with sand. Gonna make some of the weights out of 3"PVC. Quick question I may have missed. Do you mix the cement and fill the tube. Allow to dry then...

Thinking of getting a new pump. Best bang for buck?

After further discussion with Hayward Tech support( the internet and me knew more than him), I am leaning towards the Hayward SPX1515Z2ES. The 115v pulls 11/2.9 amps and the 220v BN34V1 runs 9.5/1.9 amps. I can't tell if the BN34V1 comes with a switch for the two speeds? Also a concern is...

Thinking of getting a new pump. Best bang for buck?

Just doing some googling this AM. Thoughts on this one - A.O. Smith BN34V1 1 Phase 1.5 HP 230V. Not sure how many options there are. Looked up the manual and it cross referenced http://www.amazon.com/Hayward-SPX1515Z2ES-Switch-Replacement-Filters/dp/B004VTGFHI. Don't see a listing as to...

Thinking of getting a new pump. Best bang for buck?

Exactly what I was looking for. Great starting place. I think I would wire it to 230 but have to check on manual timer to see how that works. Any down side to a motor swap? Do I need new seals or any other parts? Relatively easy process or one easily messed up? Just trying to factor in...

Thinking of getting a new pump. Best bang for buck?

Any suggestions for finding the correct one? Does hayward have some cross reference? Depending on the price, for a few bucks more is it better to buy the complete 2 speed pump and save this one as a backup? Is now the time to change voltages? Thanks again.

Thinking of getting a new pump. Best bang for buck?

I have a 1.5hp single speed 120v plug in now. (Hayward SP1580X15 Power-Flo LX Series). Thinking I would like to get something a little more efficient. I know the two speed would be an improvement. Do they make a variable speed for AG? I ran an extra leg so going to 230 wouldn't be a...

Love all kinds of mustard but not the algae. Add me to the list....

I would love to be able to increase the circulation. Not exactly sure how to do it as I only have 1 eyeball and pool is 30ft long. Absolutely possible it could be poor circulation. Not sure if I just need to run pump longer. Last year was running around 8 hours a day but after reading more...

Still passin all the tests. The pool looks as clear as ever but something is still in there. Vacuumed the pool yesterday. Spotless. Was excited to come home and see what it looked like. Love all kinds of mustard but not the algae. Add me to the list....

I tried vacuuming to waste. Just to make sure it didn't have a chance to make it back in pool. Looks like several others are in the same boat as me. Passing tests but still seeing small deposits. Anyone know if this is normal? Are we asking the wrong questions?
