    SWG test results

Unless you have a problem with your pH rising then you don't "need" to reduce the TA... if it holds pretty steady you can just leave it alone.

    Frustrated New Owners

All the SWG does for you is eliminate the need to lug some form of chlorine out to the pool... it just makes that one chore easier, but it doesn't get rid of the rest of "maintaining" a pool. A lucky minority might get away with keeping their pool crystal clear while doing everything 'wrong'...

    Easy Aeration

Shhh! Don't give away ALL the secrets ;) Kidding... but when my water level is high enough above my return to aim the jet up to aerate, this is what I do too :)

Just set up my first intex...soft side 10 foot--Pump

My experience is that if the plug gets wet it will trip the built in GFCI, but getting splashed on and rained on is definitely not a problem for the pump itself.

Using Plastic Zip Tie Between Titanium Plates - Is That Okay

Re: Using Plastic Zip Tie Between Titanium Plates - Is That I have been cleaning mine with a diluted MA mixture (1 part MA to 4 parts water) and it's faster and more effective than vinegar... you can also just soak longer and it will eventually dissolve the crud in between.

    2650 sand filter pump :/

Some people have reported just being able to stretch a 2" hose over the threads and using the clamp that comes with the hose to hold it on. I keep meaning to pick one up myself, but I haven't yet. Also, if that L-shaped o-ring wasn't seated exactly right it could have leaked - when you...

    First attempt to open pool.

With the hose in the tank some sand should be suspended in the water flow as you move the hose around - but it won't fully float.

    Metal framed pool and SWG

I do (well it comes on around sunset), and I only run my filter long enough for the SWG to do it's job... I haven't found that I have needed more filtration than that. I am pretty sure that presently my SWG is running 3 hours a day and the filter for 4.

    About to give up

Pool calc is working fine for me.. it says 431 oz of 6% bleach will bring your FC up to 16.. however if you have stuff growing in your pool that level won't hold for very long.

Have No Clue What We Are Doing....

You won't have any stabilizer in your fill water, so just add what you'll need for the volume of your pool. The pool calculator can adjust for different concentrations of bleach, just select the one you have and it will tell you how much to use. Shock is just chlorine, you don't need shock...

    About to give up

Your hardness is probably much higher than you checked for.. mine is consistently over 300, even my fill water.

Is that a shower head? Way cool way to make a fountain! :)

First-time poster! Intex pool, newly set up, going green

Re: First-time poster! Intex pool, newly set up, going gree You will be ready to turn it on when you've successfully completed the shock process... which requires a test kit.

    Hooking up the SWG

There is an o-ring around the copper electrode, it's this part from intex, or you can try to find a replacement at a hardware store or pool store. It should fit just below the lip on the smaller diameter part of the plastic. http://www.intexcorp.com/index.php/repl ... 11440.html

First-time poster! Intex pool, newly set up, going green

Re: First-time poster! Intex pool, newly set up, going gree I don't know.. two days ago you post that you have a green pool and wanted help to fix it. You got good advice, you've made a small amount of progress so far, but don't seem to be willing to follow through with the rest of it? Maybe...

First-time poster! Intex pool, newly set up, going green

Re: First-time poster! Intex pool, newly set up, going gree Don't turn on the saltwater system until you've gotten a real test kit (either the TF-100 or the Taylor K-2006) and have completed the shock PROCESS, which you cannot do with strips or just looking at the water. Given that you dumped...

Have No Clue What We Are Doing....

Are you planning on adding CYA (stabilizer) by itself, or using dichlor to start with until your CYA is in range? Really the MOST important thing to do once you have water in your pool is get some chlorine in there and maintain a good FC level (which will depend on your CYA level). That will...

First-time poster! Intex pool, newly set up, going green

Re: First-time poster! Intex pool, newly set up, going gree Have you completed the shock process (I'm not really seeing from your posts that you have, or that you understand it)? I'm not sure what the FC of 3/6 means either.. is it 3, or is it 6?

    New Temp Pool Owner

If it's just going to be a few days you don't need to drain it.. just maintain your FC levels and you should be okay once you can get the water moving again. You can use a skimmer net or leaf rake to "stir up" the pool several times a day and after adding bleach/chlorine.

The pH drifts upwards in a fairly short span of time

I adjust mine weekly - I think expecting to never have to adjust pH just isn't realistic. Mine makes about the same change over a week.

    Metal framed pool and SWG

Running the filter more only speeds up the process - it doesn't create any problems. When I was working hard to reduce my TA, my pool could go from 7.0 to 8+ overnight and I was often adding MA twice a day. If you kept the test kit in the garage and don't know what happened to them over the...

What happened to my CYA and Chlorine??

A sock can prevent the fibers from wrapping around the basket, but what you're describing with the fibers looking green definitely sounds like you have algae in your pool and need to shock.

    TC is over 10

Umm, how is it THAT complicated? The instructions are printed on the underside of the lid.. and there are videos to show you what to do?
  28. S

    Metal framed pool and SWG

Your TA should have gone down - are you sure you are doing the test correctly? You can dose with MA again to bring your pH down to 7 and keep aerating.

First-time poster! Intex pool, newly set up, going green

Re: First-time poster! Intex pool, newly set up, going gree Well if you can find a Unicel C-4607 that is the best replacement for the stock intex filter. They run about $10 if you can find them... Amazon seems to be out at the moment though.

First-time poster! Intex pool, newly set up, going green

Re: First-time poster! Intex pool, newly set up, going gree If you get the chlorine in your pool to shock level it will go from green and murky to cloudy blue pretty quickly - from there you'll need to keep brushing algae off the sides of your pool and filter everything out of the water. I...
