    Walmart Salt

sounds good. Im gonna leave it there and see if the PH is stable. So far it is looking good. I dont use the tabs, cause of the fear of raising the CYA again. just chlorinating with bleach as of now.

    Walmart Salt

Also btw the instructions that come with the tf100 kit says 100 to 120 for TA level for normal pools but the pool calc says 70-90TA level. I have been following the pool calc. Is that correct to do ? Seems the ph swing is very minimal if any , so I figured it was ok ???.?.

    Walmart Salt

Thanks. I'll check for solar salt somewhere , but if I can't locate it then ill use the Walmart salt . The FC is before adding the bleach. I just got out of shock phase 2 days ago , been waiting for it to drop so I could accurately test (and use my new speedstir :whoot: ) and then balance...

    Walmart Salt

I have a NON- swg pool. But am wanting to experiment with getting the salt up to maybe around 2000ppm to start to see what it feels like and/or has any effects on the skin . I noticed Wally World has salt in the pool section. Is this decent to use or should I source elsewhere ? Current AM...

    Concrete Overlay vs SunDek

There are a few reasons, but the two easiest to explain are color and also the texture. most stamps need a dark "antiquing" agent to make them look real. So they end up a darker color palette then most sprays. also the spray has a "popcorn" type texture and you are only basically touching the...

    Concrete Overlay vs SunDek

Concrete Overlays , spray , stamp , ect. is what i have done in my business since 2002. So i can lend some insight and also a professional opinion if needed. In the short tho: Both materials are essentially the same thing. Both a "portland" based material, both have acrylics/resins for...

Shocking and then a storm came

Kinda figured that is what the answer was, just wanted to check and be sure. I am in middle of draining down the almost overflowing pool as we speak. once i get the water level correct i am going to retest the FC and then get it going in the right direction again. Will keep ya posted. Thanks

Shocking and then a storm came

BTW if you need my prior to shocking results they are as follows: PH 7.5 FC 7 CC .5 TC 8 TA 60 CH 100 CYA 70ish I didnt bother running a full battery of testing this morn because i was in the middle of shocking. only did the FC and CC as stated above

Shocking and then a storm came

So here we go. Briefly, I was in the tail end of my shocking process and a massive storm rolled thru and literally dumped 3+ inches of water into the pool. Terrible part is, i was in the middle of performing the OCLT. In a prior post you all got me switched over on BBB and on the...

    Clarification on bleach %

Ok so may be a dumb question and maybe I am reading into "available" chlorine too much butttttt.... The Walmart bleach says sodium hypochlorite 8.25%... Other ingredients 91.75%.... Yields 7.86% available chlorine. So my question is what are we supposed to be putting in pool calculator for...

New Guy Trying to Fix Water Problems

I am tempted to figure out the well situation. I think after all these drains and refills and i test the water from well and post the results here to make sure they are safe to fill pool with and then be able to maintain the evaporation lose that needs attention here and there. as for the...

New Guy Trying to Fix Water Problems

Maybe some people do drain completely but i do not because of the horror stories of cave ins, pool lifting out of ground due to pressure, and a bunch of other "not so fun" things that have happened, So i basically drain enough to leave room for the cover to sink a bit from snow weight, and...

New Guy Trying to Fix Water Problems

Sorry , sometimes I type and ramble at the same time , lol... what I was asking is ... Should I be putting anything in that automatic chlorinator I have. As of now it is empty. Basically I just assumed that I would use bleach daily or whenever needed from here on out. And same for borax and...

New Guy Trying to Fix Water Problems

Funny you ask , because i was just researching what my next step was. Once i learned that the pucks i was using in the automatic in-line chlorinator was part of the Crazy High CYA level and causing other problems, i since removed the pucks (left the chlorinator in-line but no pucks in it)...

New Guy Trying to Fix Water Problems

Thanks. We love it , thats why i am trying to get this all right and start enjoying it instead of fighting it :-D . I agree that the FC is low. Just added some bleach to bring it up to par (hopefully). going to monitor i guess at this point and see if i lose anything overnight. Now this...

New Guy Trying to Fix Water Problems

Ok - So now for the fine tuning and more questions What are your thoughts on the above statement of not doing another drain and refill and just deal with the 70-80 CYA for the rest of the season??? 1. I am ok with doing another one if you all think it should be done 2. I do not drain...

New Guy Trying to Fix Water Problems

Ok so i followed the advice and started my MANY Series of partial drain and refills. Almost a grand later (water hauling is expensive :( ) . The CYA reading went from 180+ to what i think is now reading . 70-80. So it is a good start. Of course we now have family in for fathers day so i had...

New Guy Trying to Fix Water Problems

Yeah water from our tap/house doesnt really work out in our case. We have well water in our location and i do believe the previous owner tried to top off the pool at one point last year and messed up some stuff with the well and had to do some work to it after. So his recommendation was to not...

New Guy Trying to Fix Water Problems

Yeah i am going to try to call around and see what i come up with price wise tomorrow morn, so i can get this over with. I may shy away from the local fire company because we have a neighbor which used them last year and unfortunately the water they started to pump in was a little muddy. At...

New Guy Trying to Fix Water Problems

No i figured i wouldnt use much more water, but being that i have to have it haul in , that means i incur trip charges every time they come up to deliver. It is not a huge deal but if it was avoidable to do 3+ trips then i was gonna go that route but like i said i will do whatever is necessary...

New Guy Trying to Fix Water Problems

Ok, So i took everyones advice and got the pool safe to swim in by making sure I had the Right amount of FC while we had friends and family over for a swimming weekend (although the weather did not work out real good). But now i guess it is time to do the deed of ............... Partial Drain...

New Guy Trying to Fix Water Problems

Ok, just so i understand all this correctly. 1. I am going to re-test everything today just to make sure all my results are the same or close to rule out any testing errors 2. Even tho the water is clear and looks fine, it is not safe to use with the first set of numbers i posted using my...

New Guy Trying to Fix Water Problems

lol.... i plan on joining that pool snob clan soon too i hope. I was just wondering because the water is really clear actually but i didnt know if maybe something would be in there that is harmful to my family or friends if they went in. Probably sounds a bit on the paranoid side but i...

New Guy Trying to Fix Water Problems

DKT113- I looked at the extended instructions for the CYA testing and think i will re-test in the morning to make sure that first reading was accurate. However i am thinking it was semi-right anyways as the old test strips i was using prior was kinda reading on the high side anyways. I think...

Hi All- New To Pool Ownership (came with our new house); However very eager to learn about how to properly balance my water. At first i did not know about Troublefreepool.com , until numerous trips to the local pool store with unsatisfactory results. Once i found TFP i became hooked on trying...
