My version of a Pool Cooler operating off a return

If your pump is running all that time, it is mixing the water!!! Spraying water into air can really cause water temps to drop. There are cooling systems that force air through spraying or falling cool water to cool the air!!! Pretty neat what we can do with nature huh?

    solar heater advice needed

4 - 5K? :!: :?: :grrrr: That would pay for a lot of fuel to go to a local pond or lake!!! Count me out. Perhaps I could spend that on the moving van to go south where it is warmer longer and little need for a pool heater :-D

Is this dead algae? Not filtering out. What 2 do? PICS

Don't call a pool store, they will rip you off and you CAN do this by yourself. Get some pvc cement, and some fittings (ball valves are expensive, but worth every penny.) make sure you seal up your return so no water leaves the pool in a hurry. I am not sure where you are at, but if you post...

    Homemade Solar Array

From what you are telling me it should not be doing what it is doing, but it is. I just drew from solar hot water panels which are laid out very similar to what I did (not coils though). I get 4-6 degrees of water rise every sunny day. Now that I put in a solar cover, I get an extra 1-2 degrees...

Way too much money to spend to heat a pool with solar. Might as well just find a good pond and drive there to swim. :hammer:

    Homemade Solar Array

Re: Repair suggestions for damaged Aquatherm solar panels I do divert all the flow through the coils. I do not have a way to measure the temp in and out so no temp delta. Budget was a big issue and I have built one of these with one coil before and it would get warm. I did not know you could...

Yes, and cost mainly. It is pretty much free to spray and filters cost money.

    Homemade Solar Array

Re: Repair suggestions for damaged Aquatherm solar panels I did the math on them and it is at least 62 sqft, but with the roundness of the tubes, it is likely more. The diameter is 4 feet so pie R squared is 12.56, but I have read many places that the actual square surface area is more like 25...

    Solar Cover versus Solar Rings

With a solar cover reel and a long rope, you could do it all by yourself in half the time!!! :whoot: :whoot:

Those heads worked great for spray drying my Biodiesel too!!! I already had a few of those wands I had bought on sale, otherwise I would have looked for them cheaper. Even the fancy machined heads the Biodiesel shops were offering did not work any better!!! Great use of those spray heads. If I...

    Solar Chlor XT and MAX

Not sure where you are coming up with your numbers, but as far as solar hot water is concerned it is way cheaper than conventional methods. ROI is usually within 2 years. Then it is usually just maintenance. As for Photovoltaics, they are steadily decreasing in price. I just saw the other day...

    Homemade Solar Array

Split by moderator from HERE as it was not really on topic. jblizzle For less than one panel, you could build your own. I have 5 100' 1/2" black poly water pipe coils connected to two 1&1/2" headers and this was around $200 for the materials. My raised platform is within a few feet of the pool...

    Solar Chlor XT and MAX

I get the feeling that it is a one man operation as I asked about several of the claims and many responses were.. I have not updated the site yet. IN particular one example is the mineral anode that is no longer included... It is still listed as a component on the website and in the included...

Thank you I will look into them. In the mean time, I have 5 100' coils of 1/2" poly pipe inside that plastic covered wood contraption. It gets to 150 degrees on a nice sunny day and I have seen the pool rise 8 degrees with full sun. It would be really cool to get those other two panels back into...

Besides the price, is there any other reason these would not work other than in an emergency? You know while waiting on a new solar cover.

My version of a Pool Cooler operating off a return

Your pressure drop could be because of the bottle neck effect the smaller fittings have. Many of them actually reduce the inside diameter a little and therefore reduce your flow capacity, thus increasing back pressure. You can overcome this by having one more fitting than you thought. For...

    Solar Cover versus Solar Rings

If you do not want to pull the trigger yet, you can find used covers on craigslist!!! I am picking one up today for $50. A solar cover reel would make life much simpler, and they do make them for round pools too!!! Some swing over the pool and swing out of the way!! Here is a search to get you...

Repair suggestions for damaged Aquatherm solar panels

I have always wondered if you could use the black rubber that you roll on. It is usually for roofs. I would be concerned that it would add an insulating property, but that might be a good thing. :?: :?

    Liquidator Questions

I am sure there is a chlorine tablet or substitute that does not jack up the CYA or the CH. I will look, but it seems to me that one would not want a chlorinator if it only takes tablets that introduce other chemicals such as CYA or Calcium. If that were my pool, I would remove the chlorinator...

    Solar Chlor XT and MAX

I recently purchased the Solar Chlor Max and so far so good. I am not expecting it to eliminate the need for chemicals, but rather reduce my dependence on them!! OH, and reduce my dependence on the power grid!!! 8-) http://solarchlor.com/Other%20Products.htm and scroll down a...

Oh, Pool hose may be cheaper then hard schedule 40 pvc, but will require different fittings for hose (hose barbs and clamps). My solar set up is 5 100' coils of black poly water pipe (1/2") connected to a send and return 1 and 1/2" schedule 40 pvc. I installed a bypass using three valves (only...

If this is not a passive set up, then top and bottom only matter when draining. Just ensure you can let all the water out, or blow it out with a shop vac or air compressor (low volume flow). I must mention that I once blew my water lines out in my RV and it was not mentioned, nor did I think of...

Possible risks using SWG with AGP?

Hire a Lawyer and have him send a letter , then contact your Better Business Bureau. If all this fails, contact your states Attorney General and perhaps they can help. Many companies do not want a tarnished reputation so if you squeak enough, you will get greased :-D
