Thanks for the very detailed reply alben. If I understand correctly your cover is mesh all over but it has such a tight weave that dirt and sunlight hardly penetrate.

I'm guessing you also don't have as much of an algae issue compared to full mesh cover due to much less sun on the water. Has that been your experience?

It's time to replace our mesh safety cover for our inground pool. Would appreciate any reviews about solid cover with mesh drain in the center. Mostly curious to know if the amount of dirt that gets into the pool is significantly less? Thanks

Thanks for the input. Sorry I wasn't more specific ... we have an inground pool. I'd especially like to know if anyone can recommend from experience a good online source for buying the liner. There are a ton of sites out there.
