The FAS-DPD test is +- 0.5 on each test. So a difference of 1 ppm is within the error range of the test and can be ignored. It isn't that difficult for there to be 1 ppm of chlorine lost to pollen or leaves falling in the pool. Both of those together could account for a difference of 2 ppm...

It wasa couple days ago I passed OCLT. I checked this morning and CC was 1.0. Does that mean there's still bad stuff in the pool?

Does CC have to be at .5 from here on in after passing OCLT? If it goes up to 1.0, do I go back to shocking?

Just took readings and these are my results: FC- 12 CC - .5 pH- 7.8 CYA- 40 TA- 160 CH- 80 The TA looks high. Pool School says not to lower TA just to reach a target number. You have to have certain criteria (calcium scaling, ph rising). How fast should ph rise for it to be a TA problem...

Can I check for cya now? I thought you need to wait a week after you put it in....I put stabilizer in last Sunday. And if the kids swim, will that hinder the shock process? Pool is still a little cloudy. Last reading at 6 pm was FC 12.5 and CC was 1.

I just checked water after an hour and FC was 17. I guess that isn't so bad. I just got scared as that was a really big difference in measurement. Have come to far to screw this up. Kids are raring to jump in the pool

Well so much for that. I just made a bad rookie mistake. I added to much bleach to water ( 3 qts instead of 3 cups). Will it damage my pool now? What can or should I do?
