    Trouble getting bleach

Is anyone having trouble getting bleach. My water is clear but I use a gallon a day once the weather starts to warm and getting belach, at a reasonable price, is not easy. Where are you getting it?

Mesh winter cover has tons of algae in it and other debris

I don't know but will try it. Otherwise I all that mess dumps into the pool whose water is currently clear.

Mesh winter cover has tons of algae in it and other debris

We are trying the first two but 30 feet means the majority of the gunk is 12 feet or more into the pool. We have thought about trying to pull the cover tauter a little at a time to try to get it our of the water and then get in and lift it off. but it is still so wet out back (never ending...

Mesh winter cover has tons of algae in it and other debris

We have a 30 foot round pool that we use a mesh winter cover on. Usually I am good about taking it off before algae and debris build up but not this year. How do I keep the debris that is on top from dumping into the pool when I open it? Siphoning only keeps pulling water from below on to the top.

    Jerks with Wings

Bees are needed to pollinate the food YOU want to eat. Call in a bee keeper. They will get rid of all the bees for you and start new colonies away from your pool. Bees are a pain to deal with but are very necessary and we are losing way too many to chemicals!

What is the purpose of the pillow for above ground pools?

Just closed up for the season today. Storms are coming and I just don't want to deal with leaves blown into the pool. We solar heat and out water is still around 80. Hard to do but... That means I just finished wrestling the pool cover over this giant 6 foot long, four foot wide, several feet...

My water is almost 100 degrees!

I love using my solar panels at night. Last year our pool was hitting 100 and no one wanted to get in but my hubby. I ran the solar panels all night and it dropped it 8 to 10 degrees and, like you said, you can use the same panels in the winter to warm your pool and extend your swimming season.

    New to pools..

Just to answer some of your other questions. We love our 30 foot round. It is BIG. It gives you 30 feet in length for lap swimming. It can easily swallow up a large party and still leave plenty of room. It is wide in every direction so we rarely shoot the ball out of the pool while playing...

    New to pools..

My husband talked me into buying locally and it cost us about $2500 more. I would have been happy to pay the extra if I had a good experience with the local pool company. I did not. They were all smiles when I bought the pool but I could not get their installer to come out and look at my land...

Full Bury Doughboy with cement deck

We have a round pool with the center at about 6 feet deep. There is roughly a 3 foot rim around the pool at regular pool depth and then it slopes down from there. This works great for us because we can do water resistance exercises all the way around the outside edge of the pool and then still...

How much longer until you open?

It changes every year but I would give it several weeks. The oaks are just about ready to start dropping their catkins and they are a mess in the pool. We may start the filter in the next couple of days so we can pour in bleach to keep the algae at bay but if your pool is near any trees that...

How much longer until you open?

Be careful opening too early. I did the same thing when my pool was new and regretted it. I live in Souderton, PA. That is in southeastern PA. All of the spring blooming trees, oak, maple, cottonwood, etc. dumped unbelievable amounts of seeds, flower bits, pollen, etc. into our pool and out...

Things you wish you had known

We have had our above ground for almost 5 years. Most everyone around us has an inground but we have college age kids as well and did not want the hassle of having to sell a home with an inground pool as many see pools as a liability and a lot of work. I can't imagine living without mine! We...

So sad, pool came down today

Our pool is 82 right now. I am going to get in and clean and swim in it for a bit. We have had temps in the low 90's (water temps) for most of the summer. 82 seems cold. It is supposed to be mid to upper 80's in air temp the rest of the week but nights are getting too cool to hold the...

    Pool Cover

I prefer mesh. The leaves and debris sit on top but water goes right through. It doesn't stop evaporation but if you get rain, it helps refill the pool.

Do you need a cover for the winter

Last year my cover for my 30' round pool (which was only 33' wide and really too small for the pool) kept coming off on one side. I had to go out almost every day to fix. Finally in early March we had a heavy wind that blew half of the cover off. I gave up and uncovered it. Once the water...

So sad, pool came down today

My pool is 85 right now. Solar panels really help. I have to go out for a it but if the air is not too cold tonight I am going to try to get in the pool. I try to eek out as much pool time as I can all summer long but at this time of the year I get almost crazed about it!

So sad, pool came down today

Enjoy your swim tonight, Phonedave! Our solar panels have the pool up to 91 at 7 pm. I am getting in there and enjoying it as well. Probably one of the last warm swims! This is the saddest time of the year. I love my pool!

    Above Ground Pool Lights

We have a 30 foot round and two Niteliter's, one color and one white light. They give the pool a nice bright lite but if yours is smaller I would suggest just getting one. A drawback to the brighter a pool gets is the more insects it attracts at night!!! Our bats keep flying over catching the...

Question about dropping Intex Ultra Frame 16 x 32 into ground just 12"-24"??

Re: Question about dropping Intex Ultra Frame 16 x 32 into ground just 12"-24"?? Great pics! I never thought of doing something like that for the dogs! By the way Casey, I agree that it is so important to teach your dog where to get in and out of the pool asap so that they don't panic and try...

Question about dropping Intex Ultra Frame 16 x 32 into ground just 12"-24"??

Re: Question about dropping Intex Ultra Frame 16 x 32 into ground just 12"-24"?? We have a lab that by the time he was 5 we were told that both of his knees were shot and he may need to have knee replacements or at least slings put in. He was another fetchaholic who I think damaged his already...

    Pool Collapse

Get a public adjuster. Your insurer will either deny the claim or send out an adjuster who works for them and pay you as little as they want. A public adjuster will, at no cost to you initially, come out and review your policy and then fight with your insurance company to get you the best...

    Adding a pool light

We have that same light. We have a 30 foot round with a deep end and while one light works pretty well we have one Nite - Lighter with a clear bulb and one with colored lights that lets you change between blue, green, red, and several variations. If I was choosing I would choose the clear...

    What's your current pool temp?

Just finished a night swim and the pool temp is 90. We have solar panels on our roof and for almost the entire month of May it has been around 80 - 82. I love solar panels!

Heating my above ground pool please help

We are using solar heat here and if you have a good south or southwest area that you can put the solar panels up on a roof or another structure that gets good midday sun they are very economical. We live in Pennsylvania and our pool temperatures stayed pretty consistently in the upper 80's to...

How do you keep the solar cover on?

Well, we have another windy day today and I was just about to go out now and flip the portion of the cover that had flipped up in the wind back down but lo and behold the wind shifted and it flipped it for me. Thanks for all the suggestions.

How do you keep the solar cover on?

We opened our pool early this year because our winter cover, which we had wired all the way around the pool and then weighted down with milk jugs partially blew off in a wind storm a few weeks ago. Water was in the upper 50,s at that time so we decided to open it and put the solar cover on and...

Need advice on what deck stain or paint to use.

We did a lot of reading online and ended up going with TWP Stain. I found it under review of deck stains. They rated all the ones mentioned above and more. We used the 1500 series because in PA they will not allow the 100 Series to be sold but many states do allow the 100 series and that has...

When is a good time to open the pool in Pennsylvania?

I am in Souderton, near Quakertown and yesterday I was actually swimming in my pool. Really more like removing leaves from the bottom when the undersized winter cover blew off two weeks ago. I was in the pool for three hours and it was 70. It was refreshing!!!
