So Long Old Ultra Frame, Hello New One....

Well our old Ultra Frame lasted 4 seasons and it's got to go. Legs were rusted by the plastic pads and the liner was not to be repaired anymore. I think we got our money out of it:) Just went and picked up the new "style/color Ultra Frame. (2) intake ports will be nice and I actually like...

    Plugged sand filter?

Intex 2650 sand filter, back washed for first initial setup for the year. Rinse the back onto filter and noticed the water level in the sight glass or sediment window lowered to about half. Checked the intake valve and all good, doesn't seem to be air trapped in system. Could the sand filter be...

Our Intex Ultra Frame pool won't come apart...

Are the plastic buttons stuck? I always have to be aware of the angle when pulling on the t-joints and supports. Have to be almost perfectly level when pulling on them especially if there is rust.

Breaker popped while on vacation, assume cause of storm. Swg and pump shutoff for 3 days. Thought my levels should have sustained that long but oh well green algae now. Calc says fc should be 5 target 7 and shock 24. My cya is 60 ph 7.9. In order to shock to 24 I'm supposed to add 379 Oz of...

    Minimum Depth for Jumping?

9 feet high jumping into 4 feet of water!? Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen to me. I sure wouldn't let my kids do it. I barely let them jump off the ladder of my pool.

    Starting Up a New Pool

Just FYI I believe the operating manual for the SWG says to have your pump run 2 hours longer than your SWG. I just opened my pool and here is what I do. Fill pool, take initial tests (testing tap water) plug in test results in TFP calculator. Add bleach, cya and verify you have your chlorine...

    Fixing Leak In Intex

Just a FYI for all the Intex owners who are attempting to patch a hole in the liner. If filling initially for the season, fill just enough to cover the bottom, then check for leaks, helps if the ground cover is completely dry. Find leak, circle leak with sharpie pen, lay on ground and use your...

Jangled nerves over pool opening (Short and Long versions)

I actually used a air conditioner cement pad that I found when I replaced my older air conditioner. It is the perfect dimension for the filter, I have my SWG on some patio pavers next to the air con block. I don't know if you can get those air con pads at like Menards or Home Depot? Or just...

How to create a firm base in a soft area?

Plate compactor is the only way to go in this situation. I would still be hesitant about trying to compact that dirt. Undisturbed soil is what is recommended, just imagine how much pressure was put on that undisturbed soil over the ages, that is why they want you to do it that way. Use...

    Landscaping around Intex pools

Hello fellow Wisconsonite! My initial ground cover tarp that came with the pool got trashed so I went and purchased a heavy duty tarp from Menards. We folded the corners in to essentially create a circle with the tarp, that way it was hidden from plain site. We used landscaping staples to...

New pool build and deck Apex NC

Broke a shovel handle while trying to remove a tree root. Handle snapped right back into my knee cap/shin. Neighbors thought it was pretty funny watching my crying like a baby limping back to my house. Oh the things we do for our pools:)

Average pool temps with solar cover

Obviously with the weird weather this year you are going to get some random temperatures from everyone. I have thought about heating the pool with a heater but I can't justify the cost right now for maybe 3 months. Like I said with full sun and the temps we have been having in WI I haven't...

    Pool Water Temperature?

In Wisconsin, I haven't dipped below 80 it seems this whole season. When sun it out pool get full sun all day long. Keep solar cover on daily and I average right around 82-86 degrees daily with sun. It kinda stinks that lately we don't want to get out of the pool cause the air temp is cooler...
