30ish pounds of beginnings and 6ish pounds of renewal

Also, you don't need to "replace" Beginnings. Salt doesn't evaporate from your pool, so it is basically in your pool for good unless you drain it. You will just need to add more salt over time to replace splash-out and backwashing.

30ish pounds of beginnings and 6ish pounds of renewal

I am also a victim of being pool-stored into buying Beginnings and Renewal. I also bought the T-15 Cell you purchased so I have a bit of experience with this. What you bought is a bunch of salt with some other chemicals added to it to increase CYA and stabilize the PH. The pool guys put the...

The pool cleaner ($388) vs dolphin dx5 ($750)

Do you have a dedicated suction line installed in your pool? It seems to me that if you have already spent the money to install the dedicated suction line the Pool Cleaner is the way to go. It has pretty good reviews and will likely require much less (and cheaper) maintenance than the robot would.

Ready to move to SWG from BBB

It looks like they are out of the newer labeled T-Cell 9 on Amazon and a 3rd party is selling it. You can find it under a different label at Amazon for $375: http://www.amazon.com/Hayward-GLX-CELL- ... +9+hayward Or under the original Goldline label here for $338...

Ready to move to SWG from BBB

I find that Amazon has great prices on pool equipment. Look at the Hayward Aqua Rite T-Cell 5 and T-Cell 9. The 5 would probably work for you but it is recommended to size up on these, so the 9 is probably the best bet for little increase in price. Your pool store will mark these up about 50%.

Ready to move to SWG from BBB

Goldline is now a Hayward company. You will find your SWG now sold under the name AquaRite if you need to research/troubleshoot any problems with it.

Ready to move to SWG from BBB

Do both! I currently have a SWG but I still try to stick to BBB. I use the SWG to generate the chlorine regularly, but when it drops for whatever reason I just drop some bleach in to pull it back up.

SWG - Can I trust it to tell me the Salt Level?

Nope. I asked the pool guy that installed it specifically if I should do that (because I couldn't understand having to recallibrate it), and he said to leave it on. If I should be doing that I'll definitely be sure to turn it off next time.

SWG - Can I trust it to tell me the Salt Level?

In my short experience with a SWCG I can tell you my controller is anything but reliable. I have a Hayward AquaRite controller hooked up to a T15 cell and in the few weeks it has been installed I have had to recallibrate it no less than 3 times. I have added salt and seen the numbers actually...

    Where to put floats?

Yeah, I was afraid mine would be blowing around the yard as well. I think the previous owner left them under the house but I don't plan on going in and out of the crawl space to get floats. I'm thinking I'm just going to have to build some sort of shelter for pool stuff.

    Where to put floats?

This is my first year with a pool and I'm grateful to have found this wonderful forum full of great info. I have a quick question for you. I have two boys that are going to have lots of floats and large pool toys this summer. My question is, where do you put them when not in use? I have...

    Starting up a Pool Slide

I got it working! Whoo hoo! If anyone else comes across this problem the solution was to partially close the main return valve so more water would go to the slide. I love simple fixes.

Anyone ever try the liquid solar covers....

I had to look that up to see what you were talking about. I'm not sure I'd want a layer of anything across the top of my pool while swimming in it. I found this review interesting: My wife would kill me if there were more bugs in the pool, so that would cross it off for me.

    Pump Timer Combined with SWCG

That is some great info. I have a feeling I'm going to be doing a lot of water testing this summer. Thanks again Jason.

    Pump Timer Combined with SWCG

Cool, thanks. I'll keep that in mind when I go shopping for one later today. When I switch to having the pump on a timer should I override the schedule to always have it on when people are swimming? Or does it not matter so much and just leave it on a schedule?

He didn't install it, but rather just pointed to a valve on the return line. He is coming out again to work on the heater so I will ask him then.

    Pump Timer Combined with SWCG

I appreciate the advice. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good timer? I see lots of info about various ones going bad, but which pool timer seems to be the most reliable?

AQUARITE SWG LIGHTS ON NOT PRODUCING CHLORINE

I just purchased an AquaRite controller, so I won't be of much help. I am curious though, what about these readings lead you to believe it isn't generating chlorine? It seems to me that if those two lights are on it is working.

    Starting up a Pool Slide

I have just opened my pool for the first time and I am having difficulty getting water going to the slide. I tried turning the valve on the slide to open while the pump was going but nothing happened. When the pool guy was over installing the SWCG he showed me another valve after the pump on...

    Pump Timer Combined with SWCG

Thanks for the reply, but I never had any intention of running it 100% of the time.

    Pump Timer Combined with SWCG

Do you think it could keep up with Chlorine demands running less than 100% if it is only on 8-12 hours a day? That is essentially only running the SWCG at 33%-50%. I assumed I would have to keep the pump running longer just to keep up with Chlorine.

    Pump Timer Combined with SWCG

Thanks for the fast replies! Do you not think the flow meter on the SWCG is accurate enough to know to not start when water isn't moving? I've only owned it for about a week but I would worry if it powered on and off with the timer that it may not turn on correctly. I assume I should set the...

    Mineral Springs Salt Question

    Pump Timer Combined with SWCG

I have a 1.5 horsepower pump that is currently running 24 / 7. I am concerned with the amount of electricity it is using and am considering getting a timer to turn it on and off daily. The problem is I am also running a new SWCG and of course it only works when the pump is running. So my...

    Sealer for Aggregate Pool Deck

I have a similar concern with my exposed aggregate patio. The patio is huge as it goes around the pool and connects to the house, so replacing it isn't currently an option. There are cracks throughout it so I have been looking at a way to repair/conceal the damage. I came across a new product...

    Mineral Springs Salt Question

I recently purchased a home with a 28k gallon pool. As a first time pool owner I had a lot of things to learn from the start, but one thing I wanted to do before the pool season started was to "convert to saltwater". I didn't really know what this meant at the time but I was told if I wouldn't...
