It's a slab but 2mm not 3mm. How far would you cut the plywood from the edge of the granite? thanks Steve

    Granite plywood underlayment near grill?

Hi all, Pizza oven and bar are done so now I'm working on the kitchen. It's metal stud with cement board construction. I have granite for the counter top and was planning on using plywood under it as I did with the bar. I'm concerned about the exposed edge of the plywood under the granite near...

Intelliflow pump shuts off 15 minutes into spa mode

I have the same pump. Sometimes I think it's too smart. If the Aqua Logic doesn't connect to the serial control on the pump, the LCD on the pump will have the error message on it. If the serial control is connected I believe the LCD shows "Display Off". The error messages are on page 49 of the...

    Leaky GloBrite

Hi All, One of my 3 GloBrites has died and unfortunately is about a year out of warranty. I've removed the light from the niche and pulled out the wire pulling a fish back through. The light appears to have a small leak as I can see moisture inside the lens as well as corrosion on some of the...

Solar panels on the wrong side of roof peak

Thanks Jason. That's exactly what I was thinking. Any issues with some water remaining in the panels (pump off), perhaps with the sun on them? Steve

Solar panels on the wrong side of roof peak

Hi All, I'd like to add solar panels to extend my season a bit. The southern facing side of my house has the smallest roof section, has plumbing vents and is partially shaded by trees. The next best seems to be the west facing side but this requires me to run plumbing up 2 stories, over the...

    New Globrite lights?

I read somewhere that the GloBrites have 120 degree beam spread. They are not adjustable like the 5Gs. My preference was multiple light sources rather than one really bright one. That also gives options for multiple colors or swim mode if you wire them individually. Steve

conduit from concrete deck to equipment pad (bonding)

Hmm, My electrician suggested a conduit to protect the bonding wire from the concrete decking to the pool pad. Maybe that's why I can't find any info about the conduit. Steve

conduit from concrete deck to equipment pad (bonding)

Hi all, I have all my bonding around the pool in but I'm wondering how to handle the conduit containing the bonding wire from the pool to the equipment pad. Do I embed the end of the conduit within the concrete and run the bonding wire through it before the concrete is poured? Do I let the...

    New Globrite lights?

I don't have any pictures that would show how bright they are at night.

    New Globrite lights?

I have a 14 x 28 rectangle with 2 GloBrites and they put out plenty of light. It depends on the color you choice. A deep blue is fairly dark but a yellow or white is quite bright. Personally I'd rather have 2 smaller lights than one big one. Steve

    Fafco install - substrate?

That's what I expected. I have seen references to sheet metal placed below the the plumbing where it hits the shingles as a wear preventative. I suspect the panels move around a bit as they expand and contract with temp. Steve

    Fafco install - substrate?

Hi All, I just purchased 12 used Fafco panels and I have an installation question. The Fafco manual says "2. Lay down the first panel. Be certain it is straight and square on the roof. Simply lay substrate underneath each panel." What is the substrate? I can seem to find a reference any...

    Spa suction fitting

Hi All, I'm installing a spa which will be connected to the pool equipment. The pump is an Intelliflow VF, I have a Pentair heater and a Hayward DE filter which will be bypassed in spa mode. I'm expecting to run the Intelliflow at 100 gpm. My question is on the suction fitting. I purchased 2 2...

DIY vinyl pool in San Jose Ca - base question

The base of sand and portland cement was applied wet. We were in the middle of a heat wave which didn't help. There were some small trowel marks and given all the comments about the lights making the bottom look like the surface of the moon, we used 60 grit sandpaper to clean them up. I turned...

DIY vinyl pool in San Jose Ca - base question

We had the base put in yesterday. We seemed to be going through cement faster than I expected. I did the math based on what we used and they were mixing more like 3 to one than 5 to one. Is that going to cause me a problem? Overall a nice flat job. Certainly better than I could have done...

    Color Swim?

I have the same situation with 3 GloBrites running off one transformer. The transformer housing is isolated between the high voltage side and low voltage side so bringing the low voltage back into the high voltage side of the ET panel seems like a bad idea. I need to check with my electrician...

    EasyTouch/ScreenLogic2 and ATT Uverse??

I can't speak for Uverse but with Comcast I just plugged it into the router and it all played fine including the upgrade. I'm using an Apple TimeCapsule as my router and wireless interface. Steve

    Automation/controller recommendation

The Aquacal manual looks like it can be configured for an external thermostat. If you set it up that way the Pentair system would control temp via a relay and their supplied sensor and ScreenLogic would work. Steve

    Pentair ScreenLogic Question

Hi Otis, The short answer is yes. If you go to Pentair's web site, you can download the app for your laptop. It's configured to talk to a demo pool so you can see what it looks like and what it can do. To make it work for real, you'll need an EasyTouch or Intellitouch controller and the...

DIY vinyl pool in San Jose Ca - base question

Hi All, First off, thanks to all that contribute to this forum. It's been really helpful. I'm building a 14 x 28 Hydra pool and I'm wondering about the base. The manual calls for a 5 to 1 mix of sand and cement. Their video says no water is added and the moisture in the soil will cause it to...
