Since I updated my other thread, I may as well update here too. The repairs were ultimately done out of warranty. One gearbox was stripped and the repair agent recommended that the other gearbox be done at the same time. My marbellite pool floor was also harsh on the rubber tracks so those too...

The swivel fitting on top of the MX8, as pictured above, can no longer be removed. It has also cracked. This will be the first part that has failed. I'll update once I've logged a service request. The unit is still working like a champ and cleaning like no other pool cleaner I've had before. :)

My MX8 is back in action again after I got my pump back. The 'new' pump has seen pressure return to 100% and my MX8 is in daily use. I just make sure to clean it thoroughly every few days. This means stripping it via the 8 screws (as pictured) as well as removing the paddles if necessary.

With my pool sorted again, I need to get a pool cover pronto. I'll post up the available options if anyone is keen to comment. :)

Unfortunately I don't get a chance with the palm tree and nesting Weavers. This is an annoying seasonal thing. Come winter and the palm will be cut down and I will have a net on the pool. Then the MX8 can retire to cleaning dust on the pool floor, only. That's literally all it can do. :(

After 8 months this thing is really working on my nerves. An electric screwdriver is highly recommended. A darn chore to remove and replace 8 screws each time.

Same issue. It also seems that whenever the pumps switches off the elbow turns the weir basket lid a few degrees until the whole thing comes undone. I've resorted to putting a brick inside the weir now. :(

Right so I've procrastinated left right and centre but finally logged a service request. My pool installer did a pressure test and assured me the pool/pump are still 100%. It seems the gears inside the MX8 have stripped and this is causing the paddles/tracks to labour.

Small update and an unfortunate one at that: it seems the MX8 is not at fault, something is wrong with my new pool. I've got an air leak somewhere and as a result, no suction power. I just pray it's not underground. Posted via mobile device

Ah man, at 17 weeks I've started to pick up issues. I think a gear or something might be stripped. Noticed my pool floor was quite dusty and then realised the MX8 had become lazy. Hauled it out, cleaned it proper and chucked it back in. Next day it was standing still. Checked everything again...

Just a small update, due to the dodgy results from the HTH kit mentioned previously, I reverted to not testing at all. :( The pool remains crystal clear but may need some chemicals that I just won't know about without testing. I should pull up my socks! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
