When I ran the test last nigh, the only return paths were the 6 eyeball jets and the ozonator. I guess my next step is to close off the ozonator path and see what happens.

I believe the line is 2" all the way to the main drain area, it then splits to pick up the 4 individual drains. I will pace it off when I get home, but I imagine that the total length is probably 80' or so. There are 4 possible return paths. 6 return eyeballs and one for the ozonator...

Well my Taylor copper test kit arrived today from TFtestkits. I ran the test twice with the same results....0 copper. Go figure. The pool company test was bogus after all...I bet the phosphate test is wrong as well.

Well I think I have it down now. I judge the PH to be 7.8 when I got home this evening. When I used the pool calculator to calculate the amount of MA it was spot on with my retest after addition. I will just have to get used to telling different shades of pink apart! Thanks for all of the advice.

I was wondering if there may be a better mouse trap out there as to measuring PH. I have been using the OTO kit that came in the TF100 kit, but I really suck at telling the difference between the colors. The drop based tests in the TF100 are awesome and leave very little to interpretation. Is...

Thanks Jason. I will wait for the test kit to come in and see for my self. They seemed most concerned about the phosphates. If that test was correct, I don't know how they could have gotten so high so quickly.

Oh, one more thing. Since their numbers are so much different than mine, I went ahead and ordered the copper test kit from TF Testkits. just to verify the numbers.

I do not have an inline chlorination, so I will use the floating one. Do I just fill it up with the tablets or is there some method to determine how many to put in it? I have the TF100 test kit. Sorry for all of the dumb questions. This is our first pool.

So, just add the trichlor tablets to the skimmer and no extra CYA? Any idea how I can figure out how many tabs to add? Maybe one in each (2) skimmer? Should I keep my pump running 24/7 during this time?

Oh... I almost forgot to mention this tidbit. I asked him what he used to shock the pool and he responded that it was a type of chlorine that was undetectable by any tests :roll: FC 12 CC 0 :rant:

My plan is to bring the CYA up to chlorine pool levels and then use pucks for the remainder of the month until I can fire up the SWG. Then, I will add any remaining CYA needed. Sound right?

The pool builder, while being one of the best in the area has no idea about proper water balance... I asked yesterday, what level of TA, CYA etc they were going to bring the pool up to and his response was...I don't know what the levels are, we just use these bottles of stuff in the dosages...

I just received the kit a week or two ago. The PH is well below 6.8 I do not have a PH titration kit, so I can not tell you exactly how low.

The water being tested has no chlorine in it at all, so I din't even test that. The only thing added to the water so far has been 6 gallons of MA for the acid start up. Chlorine starts today.
