My lighting system went out, =(

The light bulbs (Metal Halide) are rated for 8,000 hours. Neither one of mine were bad but I purchased one last fall as a troubleshooting measure. I looked around the Internet and local light supply stores and found a (reasonable?) priced one at $65. I was appalled but it is what it is and...

My lighting system went out, =(

The electrician came and went. Good news... He fixed the problem and the fiber is bright like new. Bad news... he replaced the transformer in both lamps. Well, that could be good news too, since I don't have to replace the entire system. I don't know the cost of the transformers yet as...

My lighting system went out, =(

This appears to be the same system that I have and people are speculating correctly. It's a Pentair PG2000. I have 2 lamps that light up the fiber strip around my pool and 2 round lights recessed below the water line. I'm having the same issue. Last fall it worked great and just before seasonal...

Gasket needed for Air Control assembly on Catalina Spa

I’ve got a 13 year old stand-alone Catalina Spa. The gaskets in the air control valves have denigrated, most likely from dry rot. I’ve lubed the remaining one with Jack’s Formula 327. Without these little pieces of silicon, the air bubbles won’t turn on/off. I’ve been unable to locate new...

    Stains on Vinyl

{shrug} It does not appear to be metal staining as it remained the same after a thorough "C" scrubbing.

    Stains on Vinyl

Hi, I'm a new home owner that inherited a 33,000 gal inground pool. I took the cover off for the first time in early May and discovered a green mess which I've (with your help) cleaned up nicely. The numbers are great FC=6, CC=0, pH=7.5, TA=110, CH=130, CYA=50 and crystal clear. The pool took...

How hot / cold do you like your pool water?

I've been gazing at my sparkling clear pool for 2 weeks carefully watching the temp creep up. Yesterday, I took the plunge. Water temp was 70°. I jumped out as quickly as I went in and plunged myself into the hot tub. First dip of the season though! :-) brrr

    Still green after 5 days

The pool was closed and covered (mesh) when we purchased the home. He did blow out the lines but I don't think he did any other maintenance at that time. That's why I decided to open so early... to get everything in check before a scheduled event at the beginning of June :-) The new found...

    Still green after 5 days

It's been exactly 28 days since I started destroying & removing the winter growth (algae). Today, for the first time EVER, I am able to clearly see the drain! Every day since I repaired the filter I've seen some progress. The filter pressure increased and I backwashed to witness some very...

Thanks for asking. I spent Saturday (day 14) replacing the filter's valve diverter where the rubber seal was badly worn. I also replaced the sand. The sand that I removed wasn't clumpy... it looked (and smelled) fairly new. I bought the house last autumn and didn't get a lot of information...

Thanks. There's no measurable gunk on the floor to vac to waste. I've brushed every day as well as run the robot for 2-4 hours with no real sign of "dirt"... just a normal amount of sand/dirt/dust. I added the DE until the gauge registered 1 lb above and 6 hours later it was up by nearly 10...

    Still green after 5 days

Day 12. I anticipated some improvement but really don’t see much. Daily robot use is only picking up small amounts of dirt as expected and worms (rainy night). Still very cloudy and can't see the bottom. I think it’s likely a filtration problem. I installed a new pressure gauge and the...

    Problem with Chlorine Test

Also, on the chlorine test you only use a 10ml sample. You stated a 25ml sample which may have diluted your test.

Thank you all for the sage advice. Although there is a lot of muck on the pool floor I'm unable to scoop it out. The robot is doing a pretty good job but I'd say most of the problem is with the very fine particles in the water. I've read the DE article before and think that's a good idea...

Thanks for the quick responses. I have brushed but will increase frequency. I can't see the bottom but have run the Tigershark and it is picking up a lot of debris. So... my frustration is in vain? I'm still on the right track and brushing and running the cleaner should clear things up in...

I really don't see the progress any longer. My main issue at this time is the color/content of the water. This is my first year with the pool but I did see it in the late summer and it was clear. I've retested the CYA and I settled on the averaged high side at 50, FC is holding at 22...
