    outdoor kitchen island build, questions

These are great questions and potential solutions... I'm thinking about just keeping the block on the floating kitchen isl. pad, then adding some some sort of false "filler" that would fill the void between the foundation wall and kitchen island. The filler would have to "float" and would be...

    outdoor kitchen island build, questions

contractors started the project last week, making good progress. When they were forming up the pad for the kitchen island (against retaining wall in pic, post #10) they obviously encountered the concrete footing for the house. They added expansion form between the frost-free footing and the...

    outdoor kitchen island build, questions

I think I'll use the floating slab spec from our local bldg department. Contractors are pouring separate footers/pad for the bbq island and brick oven. The remainder of the patio will be pavers. Here's a new layout with the oven installed in the corner, rather then twisted 45 deg. Seems to...

    outdoor kitchen island build, questions

What are you thoughts of floating (monolithic) slab? The perimeter of the slab is 12" deep x 8" wide, then the middle of slab is 6" thick. 2x #4 rebar are placed toward the bottom of the 12" deep footer. 5"x5" square concrete mesh is used in the 6" thick slab. This type of floating slab is...

    outdoor kitchen island build, questions

NEC doesn't have any requirements for receptacle height above counter that I'm aware of, except that it cannot be face-up in the counter. Yes, the back needs to be enclosed with something. In the winter, it would blow and fill the inside with snow, then freeze/thaw and implode the structure...

    outdoor kitchen island build, questions

My plan is metal studs and PermaBase concrete board, then finish with stone. I don't want to leave the back PermaBase exposed indefinitely, hence the concrete block idea. The weather here is harsh, freeze/thaw, super hot, monsoon rains, tons of snow, ect... I think the block would stand up to...

    outdoor kitchen island build, questions

Retaining wall is about 10' high at the highest point. I want to build a bbq island along the wall, brick oven is at the end of the island. It had to be at a 45 deg. angle because it's much deeper then the counter-top. Plan is for contractors to pour a level concrete pad to build the bbq island...

    barracuda G3 comes apart

this was the problem; the ring where the hose attaches was loose. Tightened it and havn't had a prob. since.

    barracuda G3 comes apart

after our barracuda G3 runs for about 3 hrs, the main interior 'pipe' that screws in, near where the hose attaches, comes completely out of the housing. I pull up on the hose, and all I get at the surface is the interior 'pipe' of the unit. The main body of the unit is left at the bottom of the...

    pump looses pressure

~1.5 ft, but...at the edge of the decking is a cinder block, stucco'd wall; property line. The pvc runs under the decking for about 10 ft, then I assume makes a 90 deg. turn and meets the bottom of the skimmer.

    pump looses pressure

I guess it wasn't quite 30psi last summer; prob. closer to 25. Regardless, when the water falls were on, they gushed out water. Now, it's a significant, noticeable reduction of water coming out the falls. Re: the "line that's leaking air would still continue to leak water"...I don't think it's...

    pump looses pressure

well, the "pro's" must be busy; our weekly pool guy supposedly can't find anyone to do the repair. Gotta love someone who can't do 1 extra minute of work w/out extra $$. Brainstorming, I thought of something... Given the correct type of flexible 1" to 1.5" hose, could I simply use the existing...

    pump looses pressure

your correct, they used standard fittings, so when a section is cut out, with little 'play' in the pipe, (it goes next to wall, under wall, next to sidwalk) no way to get new sec. of pipe between the couplers. we hooked a garden hose pressure test device, (w/ guage) up to the skimmer line and...

    pump looses pressure

I can't tell whether it's getting air, or not capable of drawing enough water through the small intake on the barracuda. Guess I'd have to take the vacuum off and hold the hose under water...

    pump looses pressure

could I plug the skimmer intake and vacuum intake, then fill the lines with water, (garden hose) from the pump side, then un-earth and look for water leaks?

    pump looses pressure

No vortex; there isn't near enough suction to create a vortex. Skimmer weir is OK also. Water level is actually higher than normal. Since the pump hadn't been running worth a $%$#, we actually had the pool drained today; they will be cleaning, refilling tomorrow as it had turned green. I guess...

    pump looses pressure

Hi everyone, have a 30k gallon inground pool with Hayward sand filter; location Phoenix, AZ. Within the last 3 weeks the pump will run about 15 lbs pressure, then back off to 10, then back to 15, ect...After the air enters the line, the pressure drops, until the air comes out the return in the...

    bbq island framing question

A good place to start is right here in this forum; "bay side build" thread. Tons of info there. Few pointers/tips: -I used the exact method for strengthening the bar overhang as is outlined in bay side build thread. -One thing to keep in mind is that hardibacker is supposidly not rated for...

    bbq island framing question

Project finally complete; about 11 weeks after project began. Worked all day sat/sun and a few hrs each day after work. I did everything myself except for the stucco. I still have to hang the TV, hence the wires hanging down by the pillar, but everything else is done...

    skimmer lid blows off

yes, hose was connected when it lost prime. This seems to happen each time after I clean the small filter near the pump. After unscrewing the transparent top, the water level in the filter lowers and makes a gurgling sound, as I just allowed air into the system. I put the top back on, making...
