    Chlorine Usage?

Ha! Thanks for that tip. I could have used it a few months ago when I drained the pool. :hammer:

    Chlorine Usage?

I put three pucks in the basket this morning. I also have left over powered dichlor that I will use for additional chlorination. And I will order more CYA test reagents to keep my eyes on it. Thanks Again to Everyone.

    Chlorine Usage?

I will do the "bucket" test to be sure but there has been no increase in water usage and no visible water on the property. If my CYA is dissipating somehow, that's awesome! In California it never went away and just keep climbing. The ability to use the Trichlor pucks makes life a little easier...

    Chlorine Usage?

Oh, as for the pool pump, currently it starts at 2:30 and runs till 8:30. I get home around 5:30 and test between then and 6:30.

    Chlorine Usage?

Sorry, I missed a couple of things. Ph is 7.4. I'm using the Taylor K-2006 FAS-DPD. The FC was 6 the CC was 0 and the TC was 6. The water temp is around 82 and of course varies but stays fairly high this time of year. I had a big problem while in California with high CYA. I did not know it at...

    Chlorine Usage?

Let's get this out of the way 1st. FC 6, CC 6, TA 100, CH 500, CYA <30? (added 132 oz Bleach tonight just like every other night). It is a 17,000 gallon, gunite pool, in direct sun all day, and my primary source of chlorination is 8% bleach. We live in an extreme climate and summers are very hot...

    Bad R-011L?

Okay, the pool/spa has been drained, acid washed, and refilled. I added 35 oz of MA to bring the pH down to 7.4, then 24 oz of dichlor to bring FC to 4.5. TA is 150, and CH is 275. The link to detailed instructions on the CH test was appreciated and worked like a charm on the 1st attempt. I...

Drain and refill. What about DE?

Good info. Thanks again for the help.

Drain and refill. What about DE?

Thanks for that. I am about 1/2 hour away from having the pool filled and need to get the PH down then add Chlorine tonight. I had read somewhere not to run pump without DE but even if (somehow a little got out?) I should still have plenty. My last house had a new filter pressure of 10 lbs...

Drain and refill. What about DE?

After I put it all back together I opened the air relief valve until only water was coming out. I have done so on occasion after that as well as after the flow valve was replaced but have never had anymore air come out. The replacement of the flow valve was the only leak of the system that I'm...

    Newbie tip

When draining your pool it's a good idea to turn off your auto fill valve water source. It sure drains quicker once you do! :hammer:

Drain and refill. What about DE?

Thanks for the quick response jblizzle. I sure looked like DE, but not much. Last week I removed, degreased, and acid washed the grids. I did not see any rips or tears and for the last week it has kept the pool looking good and there was no DE present in the pool or spa. I have the standard push...

Drain and refill. What about DE?

Hi All, I just completely serviced my filter during the last week but then discovered that my CYA was over 200. I have now drained my pool and I'm wondering about the DE in the filter. I switched the flow valves to spa and used a sump pump to drain pool completely. I did an acid wash and started...

    Bad R-011L?

Thanks for the link to more info on CH testing. I have been jumping around the different forums and searching multiple issues but had not seen that. It has a lot more info than what is included in the Taylor instructions. I will post full test results as soon as I have water back in the pool...

    Bad R-011L?

Hello All, I have been lurking for a month now and I very much appreciate the site, science, and all the tips. I moved from northern CA to western AZ and of course we have a pool again. I'm told that a pool is more of a challenge here due to very high temps during the very long summer, and bad...
