    Pool Pilot Digital/RC-42 Cell Life

HI all. I've got some questions that have been filling my mind over the last week or so. I have a 30k vinyl liner pool with a Pool Pilot Digital/RC-42 setup that's open for 5.5-6 months/yr. This is the third summer with the pool. We've been using a solar cover for most of the summer, but 3...

    AutoPilot Replacement Cell

I searched the forum but didn't find any direct hits on this, so here goes... I'm still a few seasons (hopefully) away from needing to replace my AutoPilot salt cell, but in just doing a Google search, I see wild price fluctations for OEM replacements when comparing buying direct from AquaCal...

Still fighting brownish dust in bottom of pool

Thanks for the gameplan Dave. Makes sense. I'll keep at it.

Still fighting brownish dust in bottom of pool

I've been running at 2500 RPMs at the advice of my pool builder. In his opinion, it's an ideal compromise between return circulation for skimming and filtering ability, but I'm certainly not married to it and open to suggestions.

Still fighting brownish dust in bottom of pool

This is my first year with the pool. Was installed last fall. Was going along swimmingly :) with the pool maintenance up until 8/23. FC - 19 CC- 0 PH - 7.4 TA - 80 CH 150 CYA - 50 (it dropped a fair amount with the backwashing and vacuuming to waste) I guess I'm confused on the SLAM...

Still fighting brownish dust in bottom of pool

I do have a light and have popped it. Nothing out of the ordinary hiding in there.

Still fighting brownish dust in bottom of pool

It's a new pool. I've had the filter open to confirm the DE had coated the top of the sand. Sand does not appear to be channeled.

Still fighting brownish dust in bottom of pool

    Nope, nothing on my furniture.

Still fighting brownish dust in bottom of pool

I continue to struggle with brownish dust that keeps settling in the bottom of my pool. I've read through a number of posts from the last several years with members reporting similar problems, but the posts never seem to reach a conclusion where the silver bullet solution is revealed. The...

Air Bubbles Shooting Out of Returns

Thanks. I'll monkey around with it some more to see if I can zero in on a cause, but it's good to know it's not something to be overly worried about.

Air Bubbles Shooting Out of Returns

When operating a 2500 RPMs there's usually a bubble the size of a quarter at the top of the lid of the pump strainer. When operating at the lower RPM levels, I see 3-4 bubbles in the strainer lid. The pump isn't losing prime, but the return side pressure is definitely variable with tiny air...

Air Bubbles Shooting Out of Returns

I posted a few weeks back under the Algae section when I thought I was dealing with mustard algae. It became apparent after several days that I instead was battling some form of fine silt that kept making its way past my Triton II TR60 sand filter. I added some DE and the problem cleared up...

Am I battling mustard algae or something else

Thanks Duraleigh. Makes sense. Last question (I hope/think), is it not out of the ordinary to have something like this happen even without dropping below a min FC-level of 3 for my CYA (I run on average at 5) and immediately passing the OCLT (1 before SLAMming and the other immediately after)?

Am I battling mustard algae or something else

It just disappears into a poof when I try to. The fact that it reappears in the same locations leads me to believe it's algae, but 2 consecutive nights of passing OCLTs has me really scratching my head. The shallow end water is essentially crystal clear, with the deep end just slightly cloudy...

Am I battling mustard algae or something else

The perplexing thing for me is my FC levels have remained at 4-5ppm for weeks (I'm OCD with my testing). How could it be algae, especially with my OCLTs passing the last 2 nights? Don't misunderstand, I appreciate all the help from this site and your quick response in particular, just confused...

Am I battling mustard algae or something else

I've been noticing the accumulation of what I thought was dirt/debris at the junction of my walls, slope and bottom this week. I've had the solar cover on and at first suspected it was somehow making its way into the pool along the edges where there are gaps. FC levels have been steady at...

Turn off SWG after Shocking and Passing OCLT?

Ahhh. Thanks to both of you. Seems so simple now to read it. Just for laughs, I had to drop my son off at camp today and was going to be near the pool store. I took in a water sample and explained that my water was cloudy, but it seemed to be improving after shocking last night. They tested...

Turn off SWG after Shocking and Passing OCLT?

First year pool owner. I've read through Pool School countless times and done a variety of searches, but haven't seen an answer to this specific situation. I recently went through my first battle with algae. We had a big storm blow through on Tuesday and found my skimmers filled with leaves...
