    CYA too high

My CYA level (>90) appears to be interfering with my algae control. I understand that to reduce my CYA level, I have to pump down my pool and add fresh water. Can someone provide guidance on how much old water to remove and replace? My pool is 16 x 32 and has about 21,000 gallons. Thanks Bob

    nitrates

I've been having trouble this summer keeping the algae under control. It's been very hot and humid here on Long Island this summer and wonder if others are having trouble as well. I have been monitoring my CYA levels, which seem to keep creeping upwards. I have lowered the pool levels to the...

I have been battling a green pool since the beginning of summer. I needed a new filter and by the time I installed it, it was slim green. It's been about a week of SLAMing the pool and I have gotten the water to look teal, but it is still cloudy. I ran out of Cl indicator yesterday and now I...

    Test, Test, Test

How can I tell the difference between green and mustard algae? I have been battling a murky, green pool for the last week. I know the pH is a little low, and I will adjust this morning. Here's my latest chemistry as of 8:00 this am: pH = 7.8 FC = 27 ppm CC = .5 ppm TC = 27.5 ppm CYA = 60 Alk =...

    Test! Test! Test!

I have been dealing with what I believe to be an algae problem for the 2 months. It all started when I covered my pool with a solar cover in Sept. I have been battling green, cloudy water ever since. After a variety of pool store chem analysis and adding lots of chemicals to fix the problem...
