Okay, my pump has started leaking at the shaft seal, new seal is on order, but it's started making an almost whirring sound that is quite loud, any ideas? Hopefully the new seal kit will be here soon.

All Hayward stuff. When switching between modes on the filter, does not seem to "engage" Pump off during switch of course. Go from filter to backwash, nothing happens, fiddle with it a bit and them it starts to work, then go to flush. same problem. Occasionally the pump pressures will go nuts...

I'm thinking my pool is plumbed wrong, above ground with a center drain. The center drain is plumbed directly to the waste port on the filter. There is a plug which I can remove to actually use the waste line as an actual waste line, but the line continues underground and back to the center...
