Official 2024 BBQ, Smoking, Grilling, Baking and Beer thread

Couple smoked tri tips on Easter Sunday. Used Bulldog asian worcestershire as a binder and liberal amount of Cajun rub that a buddy produces. Smoked to 115 degrees and finished off with a sear to 130 degrees.

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

This robot just eats up the leaves.... plus never had a tangles cord, unlike my Dolphin.

    Replacement heater....

Holy Moly! I really have no clue what makes the unit so expensive. Does that titanium heat exchanger cost $3500 by itself? I know it's more efficient, probably super condensing, but I can't see it costing so much if you still have to deal with failing sensors, control boards, regulators ...

    Replacement heater....

Probably your best bet... Although more efficient, ETi 400 suffers from all the same problems that the Mastertemps do, minus the leaks to the heat exchanger. Our Mastertemp Cupro-nickel version is going strong at 11 years. Also, you got 10 years out of your Mastertemp. How long will it take...

Went to my local pool store to buy Liquid Chlorine and saw this....

I have two end of life S200 variants at my house, that closely resemble those. Jan 1st, they are hitting the trash. Probably scanvenge a few parts off them, like the working control board, replacement power cord and working power supply. Maybe I can throw them on ebay or give some of the...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

This is the kind of debris I'm getting in the basket when I run it a couple times a week. I don't have a lot of trees around my pool, so I mostly get spiders, worms and travertine stacked stone deterioration dust.

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

All sales with Marinas Pool and Patio for robots must be done by phone in order to get TFP pricing. This is also a requirement in order to complete a brick and mortor sale, since companies like Dolphin or Pentair do not allow most of their robots to be bought through online sales. Dolphin did...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

It has a fine mesh, similar to a goldfish net or paint strainer. More than adequate for regular cleaning. My pool's system was designed in a way that allows some DE powder to flow back in the pool when I clean the pumps basket. Probably easily solved if I spent some time to figure out what...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

I'm still very happy with the EVO after a few months of use. If it had a set of pleated fine filters, it would be perfect, but otherwise I'll just have to live with it. I will say, I haven't had a tangle yet with the EVO cleaner, unlike the S200 variant it replaced. That Doheny discovery...

My Pentair Intellibrite 5G finally died!

Pool was built in 2013 with three 120V color Intellibrite 5G lights. These arw controlled by Pentair automation. After 11 seasons of faithful service, one of the three lights finally died. What are my options? I would like to keep the replacement light or light engine synchronized with my...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

My old Doheny Discovrey S200 didn't like going up on our Baja shelf, which is about 10-12" depth. The Evo loves the baja shelf and sometimes launches water onto the deck as it passes by the edge. Not a real concern, but it is funny to watch the roost of water spraying out as it roll across the...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

Not wanting to Crud on the OP's thread, but I did want to add a couple pictures for reference. I did think about starting my own thread, but this one might actually could be turned into the Official EVO 614iq thread, like my Doheny Discovery (S200) was turned into from 7 years ago. These are...

Warrior SE pumping water but not moving

If you lift it out of the water and push the on button, will the track run? If so, can you stop the tracks with your hand. I had a very similar problem and here is what I found. In my case, I opened up drive unit and pulled the drive motor out. I unbolted the gear reduction drive from...

    S300i replacement... considering S200 - crazy?

That rusty bearing tells me that water is getting past the bulk head packing seal and oring. The Oring was easy to replace, but the shaft packing does not look like it is replaceable. Unfortunately, it will continue to leak, ruining the motor and eventually the control board. I got almost 7...

    S300i replacement... considering S200 - crazy?

I was in the same boat as you... with multiple fixes of the motors, motor gear unit, control board... etc. I recently bought the Evo Polaris / Aqua Products 614iq and so far I'm very happy with my purchase. Runs very similiar to the Dolphin branded products, but I think they have built on the...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

Correct about the power usage. I think the S200 was like $0.25 to operate per cycle. This unit is probably similar. As far as weekly cycles.. in the past, I left the S200 in the pool 90% of the time. Weekly cycles only worked for 3 - 4 cycles in a row, because of the tangled cord...

    Repair 8-yr old dolphin m500

I was in a similar situation and rebuilt, replaced every part I could. I had a spare non working S200 that stopped working for a buddy of mine, that I scavenged parts from. Finally couldn't keep water from getting in, because the motor shaft packing seals were bad and couldn't be replaced. My...

    EVO 604 = Polaris 8640?

It drains really fast, because it pumps all the water out under power, making it harder for dirt to drain back into the pool.

    EVO 604 = Polaris 8640?

They are the same... Only difference is the included caddy with the Polaris, which I have no use for. Also, the clear top cover on the Polaris is neato, but otherwise, they are identical. I was a long time S200 variant fanboy and spent a lot of time repairing problems in the drive unit...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

Two full runs in with 614iq and I love this thing. Is it perfect, no, but neither was the S200 variant it replaced. Plus, this doesn't freak out on my 12" Baja step like them dolphin. Lift out feature is slow, but it is awesome. Time will tell how durable this robot is, but we might have a...
