    Polaris 360

I actually watched all of your videos while trying to decide which pool cleaner to get. They are a huge help. Thank you so much for your response. 1. We have a cartridge filter that we just cleaned. It was running at about 8-9psi before installing the cleaner. 2. We put medium sized...

    Polaris 360

Yes, we did check the RPM. It took everything we had to get it up to 28-30 but it still creates a lot of pressure on the filter. Can't figure out why.

    Polaris 360

We installed the Polaris 360 this weekend. However, I am not sure if it is running the way it should. We have 3 returns and a rainfall. We reduced the flow to two of the jets and installed the Polaris on the other. The Polaris itself is working fine. The potential issue is that when the...

    Help for staining

    Thanks, Dave! :)

    Help for staining

No to vitamin C. Yes trichlor tablet. No magic eraser and that would really suck. I can't imagine using a magic eraser on the entire pool.

    Help for staining

Hello everyone. We just had our first winter with our pool and I need help removing stains in my pool. I am not 100% percent what caused them, but it appears to be from the leaves falling into the pool. Since it is so warm here, we did not close the pool for the winter, but it did get a lot...

    Arrrrggg! Backswimmers

I have a SWG. I also use bleach in my pool. It doesn't hurt anything. The SWG converts the salt in your water to chlorine so your pool is actually chlorinated. Bleach doesn't add anything to your pool that is not already there. And yes, the Bioguard Backup is safe for a SWG also

    Arrrrggg! Backswimmers

I guess in Nebraska backswimmers aren't that common. Here in South Louisiana they are in every pool, so every pool company in town carries Bioguard. I never run my pump at night since you lose a very small amount of chlorine overnight.

    Arrrrggg! Backswimmers

I don't know if it does or not. I could not find a specific answer. I definitely would not use it regularly. I only had to use it that one time. I put it in while the pump was running and let it run through for a little while. Then I turned the pump off for the night. The next morning...

    Arrrrggg! Backswimmers

I'm not an expert, but I would think if you have algae, go ahead and shock your pool. As far as the backswimmers go, no chemical in the world is going to kill them. They breathe air, not water. I know the general consensus is that if your water is balanced with no algae, then you couldn't...

    Arrrrggg! Backswimmers

If your pump was on, maybe try turning it off for a night. That seemed to help.

    Arrrrggg! Backswimmers

It appeared to me that the reason the Bioguard Backup was so effective in killing the backswimmers in my Pool was because of the "film" (for lack of a better word) that it left on the surface of the water. Prior to using the Backup, I tried creating that same effect with Dawn dish liquid. While...

    Arrrrggg! Backswimmers

I have to put my 2 cents in. Most everyone is going to disagree with my suggestion but here it is anyway. Our pool was filled with backswimmers. And those little jerks bite! They were so bad that we would be covered in multiple whelps when got out of the pool. My water is perfectly balanced...

So pro team supreme PLUS adds to TA after all?

Do you believe that will affect the recommended addition amount? I added 2 pounds per 1000 gallons. The test strips are so hard to read.

So pro team supreme PLUS adds to TA after all?

You may be right. And I bought mine near the same time you did. I had to wait until I got my TA low enough to add it. Thanks for the tip. I will go that route next time :)

    I know. I can't figure out what happened :?

So pro team supreme PLUS adds to TA after all?

This same exact thing happened to me. My TA was at 70 and my ph was 7.4 before I added the Surpreme Plus. I ran the pump for 24 hours then checked my water. My TA had shot up to 130 and my ph was over 8. Hopefully, others will read this and know they may still have to muriatic acid even with the...

    I need help with borates

After 2 months, I finally got my alkalinity down to 70 so I could add borates. I used Proteam Surpreme Plus because it was ph neutral. Now my ph is over 8 and TA is 130. What am I missing? :hammer: Did I still need to add muratic acid? Thanks once again for your help Linda BTW- the water...

    Advice on pool cover

We are not planning on “winterizing” our pool during the winter months. It just does not get cold enough here to warrant that. However, we have several large oak trees and the leaves make a huge mess every year. So I am thinking that some type of net cover would be a good idea. All of the...

Any suggestions for TS/hurricane pool prep?

Thank you! :-D We worked very hard over the past few months. And I am happy to report no damage to my pool (or home) other than about 2 inches of leaves at the bottom of the pool. Thanks for everyone's help. Linda

Any suggestions for TS/hurricane pool prep?

Issac is on the way. We are expecting a lot of rain and probably power outages. I was planning on adding extra bleach before hand. Any other suggestions? Also, do I need to worry about all of the water that will end up in the sump pit during the storm? Of course, we will not be able to run out...

My pool build / Thoughts - Any Suggestions?

We have Liberty Mutual also. They will not insure a home pool with a diving board and they require that you have at least a 5 foot fence with a lock. We did not intend on putting a diving board and we have a 6 foot fence already. The good news was that it didn't raise our insurance rates.

    Concrete sealer in pool

It worked well (except, of course, around the pool) and we were finished in no time.

    Concrete sealer in pool

Our contractor told us to roll it on so that is what we did. We have stamped concrete also and rolling got it in the grooves really well. The problem was the sealant pooled in the lines cut over the expansion joints and dripped into the pool. We will brush that area next time. Lesson learned.

    Concrete sealer in pool

Thanks everyone. The water looked pretty good this morning. Quite a bit of the remaining sealer was in the skimmer basket. It kind of looks like wax now. I think that the rest fell to the bottom. I will leave the hose on the skimmer basket for a couple of days just to make sure we have it...

    Concrete sealer in pool

Hopefully someone can help. My husband was sealing our concrete deck around the pool when before he knew it, the sealer got into the pool water. It didn't mix with the water. It left a film on top. I was able to skim a lot of it out with the net and what was left was little chunks almost like...

No question. Just wanted to say...

Thank you for such an awesome site. Our pool was just installed a few weeks ago. Due to 28 days of rain, the concrete was poured this week. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found this site. You have helped my understanding of the seeming complicated ins and out of pool...
