    Need new pump

I currently have a Hayward Max-Flo High-Performance Pump, Model SP2807x10 1HP. We have always run it 24/7, but have recently installed a timer so we can turn off the pump during the night. Any recommendations for a new pump? Hayward suggested the Hayward EcoStar variable speed pump, but I...

    Cloudy again

I am using Liquid Chlorine to SLAM. I will keep the level up until the water is clear. I did this 2 weeks ago, but hard rains continued last week after I thought I had it under control. 2 inches of rain water in 15 minutes last week. Lots of flooding going on here. The PH level yesterday...

Clarifier - To use or not to use

CH was a lot higher last year (360) before I started using the BBB method. It is lower now due to having to drain a foot of water from the pool for the winter.

Woke up to cloudy water this morning!

Forgot to post update. My pool cleared up overnight! I caught it early enough. Many of my friends had the same problem, so we think it had to do with the massive amount of rain we've had. I shocked for an extra day just to be on the safe side, but my pool is crystal clear. Thanks everyone!

Clarifier - To use or not to use

I have close to 4 full (big) bottles of SeaKlear Natural Clarifier. I have not used it since I converted to the BBB Method. Do I have a need for Clarifier or should I get rid of it? I use to buy it when I would get phosphates and the "pool people" told me to use it when they sold me the...

I woke up this morning to cloudy water. Here are my test results: FC - 20 (I just shocked) TA - 160 CYA - 40 PH - 7.8 Do I keep the shock level up until the water clears? I live in Ohio and we have had terrible rain here. On 3 separate occasions, I have had to pump at least 3...

    Dolphin Atlantis

I did get a Dolphin Atlantis after doing some research. And, I got a great year end price! As for it's performance, I absolutely LOVE IT!. I get up in the morning, head to the pool to do a water test, and put the Dolphin in for a morning cleaning. You simply plug it in, put it in the...

10 gallons of liquid bleach left over from last year

Topic split off. Please ask questions in your own topic instead of reusing someone else's existing topic. Thanks JasonLion Staying with the expiration topic, I have about 10 gallons of liquid bleach left over from last year. I stored them in my basement so they would not freeze. Are they...

For those in the North, when do you open?

I also have to wait until all the "helicopters" are off the trees. I am usually cleaning them up by the several wheelbarrows full.

    Do I have a leak?

On Friday, I added water to my pool because I thought it looked a little low. We had an all day rain on Saturday and the level was about an inch from the top of the skimmer. I just checked the water, and it looks like the level has dropped about 2 inches. I'm just sick about this. How can...

    closing pool - inground

We try to close by the beginning of October due to falling leaves from a maple tree and a cherry tree. Then, we try to open in the spring after the "helicopters" fall from the maple tree. That is usually in the middle of May. But, if I can keep up with the leaves and the helicopters, I can...

    closing pool - inground

I can't run the pump because I have to lower the water level to below the skimmer and I want to keep antifreeze in the lines. But, I can put liquid chlorine in the pool and put in a submersible pump to move the water around a bit. Sounds like a plan.

    closing pool - inground

Hey Leebo! EVERYTHING is cheaper at Amazon compared to Olivers! They (Olivers) made their last $$$ off of me! Last year was such a mild winter, especially in Feb and March! Heck - it was in the 80's in March! We did not open the pool until May and I regretted waiting that long. But you...

    closing pool - inground

I am new to this wonderful site this year. I know it's early, and I just got my water "Pool dealer" free from all their chemicals by using the BBB method. At the end of next month or the beginning of October, I will have to close the pool. I live in Ohio and winters are totally unpredictable...

Been shocking for a week, water clear, can we swim?

I was having the same problem, but lower numbers. My water looked great, but I could never pass the OCLT. Butterfly (who has made suggestions to you in this thread) gave me the same suggestions. We took off our light and it was a disgusting! Algae, slime, and lots of dead bugs. No wonder I...

    Solar cover and shocking

Our new cover came with a white plastic cover to put over it when it was not in use. The plastic is a little heavier than the plastic tablecovering that comes on a big roll that you would use to cover table at parties. It works because it is white and reflects the sun. Last year we bought a...

I have not used my BRAND NEW THIS YEAR solar cover in 2 months. Prior to rolling it up and storing it, my pool was cloudy and algae ridden. After alot of work, my new TF-100 testing kit, and alot of advise from experts in this forum, I now have a crystal clear, algae free pool. Upon the...
