    Deck O Seal alternatives

Looking back through the archives, I see where Pool Seal, Vulkem and Dow 790 have been suggested as alternatives to Deck O Seal. I'm having trouble finding a source for any of these in Dallas. Does anyone know anything which would work as well and be readily available. Is Deck O Seal enough...

    cracked decking cover coat

The deck area around my pool appears to have had a coating material applied to it at some time. It looks like a thin stucco material. In several places this coating is coming off in patches. I would appreciate any advice about how to deal with this. Should I have the entire deck re-covered...

    Pump parts

Yes, it is a booster pump. And, yes on close inspection, it is marked Letro. I just didn't look close enough before I posted. I got an impeller this morning and just got it installed. Again, thanks for the help.

    Pump parts

Thanks for the responses. Yes, this info came from the motor. I have not been able to find anything on the pump itself. I will try to look closer.

    Pump parts

I have a broken impeller on the pump which powers my pool cleaner. It is a Magnatek Century Centurion, Pool and Spa Duty. 3/4 HP, 240v Cat. B668. Any idea where I can find a replacement. Through Google I can find plenty of motors and parts, but no pump parts. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply James. I will give it a try.

    Noisy pump motor

About a month ago the pump which drives my random pool sweeper began making noises while running. I thought it might be something in the pump or perhaps bad bearings in the motor. The pump motor is a Magnetek Century Centurian. It is 3/4 HP, 230 v and says it is model #L-A01, and "For Pool and...

    Filter tank pressure

Thanks, I will backwash and add DE. While I'm at it, I'll go ahead and remove the pump impellor and make sure it is clear.

    Filter tank pressure

Thanks for the reply Jason. The pressure gauge on my tank has markings that show it should start about 10 psi and should be backwashed when it gets to 20. Is that information just wrong or out-dated.

    Filter tank pressure

I have a DE filter and when I cleaned the filter and added new DE, the pressure started out at about 10 psi. After a few months, the pressure slowly climbed up to about 15. I understand this is normal and I was watching to see when it got to level it needed to be backwashed. But when the leaves...

    Pool light failure

The place where I damaged the cables was up in the box prior to where they go underground. I was able to solder to the ends and wrap them with electrical tape.

    Pool light failure

I never could get the wires to move. However, it turned out that it was broken bulbs, and I only had to replace them (and fix the wiring I tore up trying to pull the cables out) and all is well. Is there any way you can get a grip with vice-grip pliers. It would be a cinch to cut a new screw...

    Pool timer

Durk, Thank you very much for your response. You are absolutely correct. I should have worked out the circuits before proceeding. The motor is probably at fault, as it will run, but not at the proper speed (time not correct). I will check into possibly just replacing the motor. I love this...

    Pool timer

My pool has a model Intermatic T10604R timer box. It appears this set-up is for two speed pumps. I think mine is a one speed pump, as the left hand timer does not have any "on-off" devices on it. My right hand timer has malfunctioned. Being smart like I am, I figured I would swap the...

    Pool light failure

My pool has two lights, which appear to say American Products (with a non functioning 888 number). They are halogen, 250 watt, 120v. Both of them failed before I bought the house. I took the lights out and found that the ceramic type "socket" for the bulbs have broken. I assume I will have to...

    Thanks

I do not know where to say it, but I had a real problem with algae, and had zero knowledge about pools. The folks on this site provided invaluable help in completely solving my problem. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice. And thanks for having such a great place to find good information.

    deck-o-seal mastic

When I bought this house a few months ago, (First pool), the guy who inspected it said the "mastic joint", was "deck-o-seal", and needed replacement. I can see this joint has cracks in it. What is the procedure for removing the stuff and replacing it. I haven't poked on it yet, but it appears...

    Testing technique

On the advice of the folks on this site, I got a Leslie's FAS-DPD test kit. Maybe I'm dense, but the directions in the lid are not easy to understand. Is there somewhere (on this site or otherwise) which tells how to do the tests with a little more detail.

Too high pressure on robotic cleaner line?

Dave, Thanks for your response. I finally figured it out. The cleaner was picking up an invisible layer of dead grey algae from the bottom of the pool and blowing it through the bag. The clip holding the bag shut is just worn out. I brushed the bottom of the pool repeatedly today and replaced...

Too high pressure on robotic cleaner line?

After cleaning my DE filter and replacing the DE, everything seemed to be working fine. But my FC level was at zero and I added a half gallon of bleach. the next day, my pool cleaner strainer was clogged with DE. I cleaned the strainer and immediately the cleaner bag started spitting out clouds...
