    Sucking Air

mas985 you hit the nail on the head. I suspected an air leak but was told there was none. Someone now agrees with me. What is happening is that the vacuum line sucks air in while engaged. When off since the pipe is at or above the water level there is no leaking. But now I recently had a...

    Sucking Air

I have 2 pvc pipes that come from the pool to the filter. These pipes attach to a Jandy valve with a 3 way connections. Built into the side of the pool is a hole below water level where the automatic vacuum connects. One of the pipes comes from the skimmer and the other from the hole for the...

    Sucking Air

akenis, this is what I am experiencing. When the vacuum line is deactivated the filter runs fine(no air), but when I open the valve I hear swooshing and air start coming in. In a short time the filter cartridge housing fills with air and I start pushing air out the return ports. The line was...

    Sucking Air

I had the gaskets replaced and lubricated. The only thing that is different with the system is that I replaced the pump motor in Nov. I had no problem with this set up until about three weeks ago. Is it possible that something happened with the motor (getting wet...) causing it to short out...

    Sucking Air

I am still sucking air in through the vacuum branch of the filter system. I had the line tested for leaks and obstructions. There is nothing wrong with the line. I have removed the vacuum head and hose and still suck air. I can not run the vacuum as it is since the air eventually fills the...

    Sucking Air

I have positively narrowed the problem to the vacuum part of the filter. I had the pipes pressured check for leaks (there was none). I used the garden hose but dont know if the pressure was enough to do anything significant. The pool is enclosed in a screen house so there is nothing large to...

    Sucking Air

I have an inground pool with a Hayward C110 filter and a jandy valve that can adjust between the skimmer and vacuum. everything was fine until two weeks ago when I noticed air bleeding into the system (air was coming out the return vents). I narrowed it down to the vacuum side. When I use the...

Thanks to everyone. As with anything new I just need to get confident in what I am doing. There was a problem with the test dropper. It gave a fine drop causing a false reading. I fixed and re tested. CH is 370. Everything is looking good.

    Shockin question

Thank you. Right now my FC is 8.5, CYA 50 and CC 0.5. I want to reduce the CC. Using one of the calculators, it is advised to raise the FC to 19. When I do this(with bleach) I wanted to know if this was safe to swim in.

    Shockin question

Hi: If I shock my pool, 15 - 19ppm, Can I still swim in the water? My CC is 0.5 and I want to shock the pool with bleach. How long do I have to wait after adding the bleach before I can swim? Is there a maximum number ,ppm, where it is not safe to swim?

I tested the CH again treating it as if there was copper in the water. The number went to 750. The water is clear and there are no other issues. The previous owner was up to date on testing (he would send a sample out for testing, etc..)

Hi, I just bought a house with a built in pool made with fibertek? with tile on the top(16000 gal). The previous owner was using chlorine in puck form with a floating dispenser. He was shocking the water every week with 2.5 gallons of liquid chlorine. I tested the water before adding the...
