    Help with Balancing - Again...

Hi everyone... I've been balancing through pool calculator for the past month and everything's been generally fine...no algae or cloudiness, but the water seems a bit harsh and I can't tell if I'm doing something wrong or missing something: Here are my numbers via Taylor 2006 Test: FC= 1.8 (I...

Walmark HCH 6 way test says din't go above 4ppm FC

Quick question: For the past month I've been adhering to the pool calculator and CYA charts for all my chemical balancing...and have been using the Taylor K2006 test kit for testing. With a CYA of about 60, the chart tells me I should be around 7ppm FC. I just looked at the Walmart HTH...

    Cloudy water...Some help please.

Thanks again...Can you clarify what you mean by "Raise to shock level tonight for the OCLT." Does does that mean I should raise it to 22 before I go to bed and then re-test first thing in the morning? If it goes down by more than 1ppm, then I need to continue shocking. But it if doesn't and the...

    Cloudy water...Some help please.

Thnaks for your help! I'll do the OCLT test tonight...and if there's a 1 point drop in the morning I'll shock to 22ppm. After I shock that high, how long does it take for the FC levels to go down to the desired (swim-able) level? A couple days, or longer? Thanks!

    Cloudy water...Some help please.

Hi everyone, Yesterday we noticed our pool water had become a bit cloudy, but it was certainly not green. Could this be the start of an algae outbreak? We recently had a week long pool party that probably introductory a lot of sweat, sun block, dirt, etc...so maybe that's related? After...

My first test results with the K2006. Is this OK?

OK, sounds good... Last question: Could this be contributing to the harshness on our eyes when we open them under water? It stings like heck...so we really can't dive down to retrieve anything at the deep end. It's always been fine in public pools. Thanks again!

My first test results with the K2006. Is this OK?

Hi again...I finally got my K2006 test kit...and here are my results: FC=1.8 CC=0.4 PH=7.2 TA=90 CH=110 CYA=60 (This is good since it was up to 90 just a week ago)... PoolCalc says add 1 gallon bleach, add 4lbs bromax, add 2lbs Baking Soda... And here's my concern: It says add 28lbs of Calcium...

Got my first test results, please help.

I'm still testing via the Walmart 6part test kit. The k2006 hasn't arrived yet. The Walmart cya test involves mixing 7ml pool water with 7ml cya and slowly dropping into a beaker that has a black dot at the bottom. I stop when the black dot disappears, and that is my cya level. It's admittedly...

Got my first test results, please help.

Update: So, I did everything I thought I was supposed to do yesterday. Balanced pH nicely with the Borax dump. Then added 3 gallons of bleach and waited an hour, retested. Chlorine was normalizing (at 5) but my aim was 10....and CYA went from 90 to 75. Seemed things were improving. So I added...

Ah yes, I meant 2 gallons! And yes, it's a trichlor chlorine feeder...I'll keep it off. Thanks for your quick responses. I'll try all your recommendations and see it that works! L.

Got my first test results, please help.

Ok, you people are the best. I realize I need to keep reading up on this in order for it to sink in, but you've already helped me understand the effects of dichlor a bit better. I'm not sure why leslie's, for the past 3 weeks, has recommended chlorbrite given its effects on CYA. I honestly think...

Got my first test results, please help.

Hi Everyone...I'm totally new to pools, so please bear with me. A few days ago I posted that my first tests, according to Leslies, were off, and all their recommendations weren't working. As suggested, I've ordered the K2006 test (but it hasn't arrived, so I've just done the walmart 6 way...

Re: First time pool owner - Totally confused by pool balanci anonapersona, We've only had the home for 3 weeks...and we usually need to add water (via a hose) once a week to keep the water up to the middle of the skimmer. Evaporation, kids splashing, etc will bring it down a few inches and...
