    Inground pool Light help

Hopefully that worked. There is no niche. Just a hole for the electrical cord and the light gets hooked onto the wall and screwed at the top. It takes a 150 halogen bulb and the pool was built in 1994.

    PVC cement for underground pipes.

Just need some clarification on which I should use. Doing some research and it's between the Weld-on 711 or the Weld-on 795. The website says that the 711 is the strongest, but the 795 should be used on pipe underground. This is the site I am referring to PVC Glue & Primer For Swimming Pool...

    Inground pool Light help

So I'm looking to replace my light in my inground pool, but can't seem to find the style I have. Maybe one of you fine people can help me out. Everything I am finding on the internet has a cone shape that goes into a niche. Mine has a flat back with a bracket that gets hooked onto the pool...

Help water draining from inground liner pool.

Maybe some of you have experienced this and can help me out. The water level in our pool was dropping this summer (about 2.5 inches every 4 days) so i called someone to come out and take a look. They tested the liner and found two small holes and patched it up. Pressure tested the lines and...

Low PH and Alkalinity. Helping a neighbor out.

yeah chiefwej, my wife was the same way and has since turned over a new leaf...haha. I was reading the side effects of low PH to him and he was like my eyes don't burn and kinda brushed it off saying the pool is clear and chlorine is high. meanwhile he has a 4 and 2 year old who are going to...

Low PH and Alkalinity. Helping a neighbor out.

he also uses a nature 2 cartridge and chlorine tabs to sanitize the pool. i told him to ditch the tabs and nature 2 and just use bleach. we have a rural king in our area that sells 4 gallon 10% shock for 9.99. during memorial day it goes on sale for 6.99 and then goes to the price of 7.99...

Low PH and Alkalinity. Helping a neighbor out.

So i have been doing the BBB method for 2 years and love it. I have a neighbor with an above ground pool who says he has been having a yellow dusting on the bottom of his pool and only tests with test strips. Pool looked pretty good with a couple spots that look like it could be mustard algae...

BBB = Inexpensive? I must be missing something...

luckily i already have the test kit so i was testing last year to get used to it. i didn't realize how everything worked until i started doing the BBB method myself this year. i have been slowly using whatever i had bought so i don't waste it. like shock with cal-hypo when needed. having the...

BBB = Inexpensive? I must be missing something...

i also ran numbers like you and when i saw it was pricier to maintain i said i would wait till i did more research. normally i would figure out how many weeks the pool would be open. then i would go off the labels recommendation for weekly and opening dosage and buy that amount. so first...

adding DE to a sand filter question

yeah sounds like how mine looked when we opened. got it crystal clear using the BBB method(first year doing this) but thought it could be a little bit cleaner. i opened up a swamp because last year about midway through the year our pump died. by the time we got a new one the pool had gotten...

adding DE to a sand filter question

filter was backwashed before i added the DE. i found my recommended amount last year when i added 1/4 cup at a time, so i added the whole amount this time around and it was catching alot of dirt and grime. just making sure i can do it again if i need to. also if i have to keep putting DE in...

adding DE to a sand filter question

so i tried this last year and it worked really well. i started the BBB method this year and got my pool sparkling clear but noticed alot of dirt on the pool floor. i would sweep and came back the next day and it seemed like my filter didn't catch anything and psi didn't raise a bit. i just...

    Pool Calculator for Android?

Re: Pool Calculator being Maintained? jason i keep searching and can't find it in the app store. i have tried a million different searches. edit. nevermind i have that app and absolutely love it. but it doesn't tell you the amount to use if you are in the shocking process.

Not sure how my bottom drain works

i really have nothing to add except another question. my far skimmer doesn't seem to pull in the water as fast as the closer one, i mean sometimes debris just floats by instead of getting sucked in(i understand that some pressure might be lost because of the longer distance). so i was doing...

    borax/washing soda difference????

john i am actually going to start the BBB method this summer. i got a test kit and was tinkering last summer. so using the BBB method i shouldn't use tabs or cal-hypo, just bleach right? it seems like that i would be buying bleach alot and that it might get costly. haven't crunched...

    borax/washing soda difference????

pool is still closed so i don't know the exact measurement. i downloaded that simple pool app and noticed that i raise PH more than TA typically. only thing i can come up with is the rain.

    borax/washing soda difference????

alright thanks for the info jason. probably just stick with the borax. TA doesn't move that much for me but it seems i am always raising the PH. was trying to justify the 50 cent difference per pound.

    Cloudy water with chemistry ok?

when i would shock i use cal-hyp and then run my chlorinator on the 2 mark and that usually keeps my shock level up. i am trying to use my chemicals i already bought for the year before i can do the BBB method so i have never used liquid chlorine. the part that confuses me is keeping the FC at...

    Cloudy water with chemistry ok?

i am in the same situation but since i shocked my cya rose to about 90 and i am not sure why. it has been steady all summer around the 40 mark. can shocking raise CYA acid? also can this add to the cloudiness of the pool overall?

    confused on the shocking process.

i just re-read the link. i must of been thinking of something else while reading...haha, to much info in a such a short time. i will give this a try. thanks again.
