Size hose for pool cover pump

This past winter I bought the little gaint pool cover pump. With a garden hose I noticed the actual garden hose would clog on occasion. The pump does have a fitting for a 1" discharge hose. Should I try the 1" hose and what type. I see where I can buy clear 1" hose or the braided/clear type by...

    Pump taking awhile to start

Couple of questions, please. AG pool with a 1 hp AG hayward matrix powerflo pump. About 5 years old. Recently I noticed when I turn the timer switch on. The motor hums for about 5 seconds before it starts. I never noticed this before. Is this a sign it is going out. Also years ago I had a AG...

Camlock fittings for suction or pressure side.

I am using the GHT poloy camlocks. Some I have NPT then a brass adaptor. But they do make barbed ones in 1/2" and 3/4" barbs. And even 3/4" camlocks with a choice of 1/2 or 3/4 barb https://www.jmesales.com/banjo-3-4-in-x-1-2-in-polypropylene-cam-lever-couplings/...

Camlock fittings for suction or pressure side.

https://www.sealfast.com/camlock/ I have used them for years to connect my garden hose to the hose and no problems. Would still use the cheaper black poloy camlocks for the pool in 1-1/2 size.

    Air in line

Hi, This started when my pump was running for a day with the skimmer full of leaves. Anyway, we had a lot of air bubbles in the pump cover. Replaces the gasket and this solved 90% of the problem. But still have some. I do plan to try and replace the flexable PVC hose from the skimmer to the...

    Costco Bestway plumbing conversion

I think you only need that adapter if still using intex hose. Myself I would do it this way. Worked fine for me for 30 years. Just use flexible PVC. Easier, less joints, can expand a little so more freeze proof...

    Dumb Mistake with skimmer assembly

Also besides the other ideas. You could just wait until you ever replace the liner. I once switched skimmer brands and the hayward had a smaller hole. So just bought a piece of over sized sheet metal. Took my time and cut out the template for the hayward skimmer. Then just installed this...

New AGP with 1.5hp Pump - 2 intakes vs just the skimmer?

Thanks, Noticed it said to fill with sand or pea gravel. Does that add a lot of weight. To remove for winter

    Dumb Mistake with skimmer assembly

For now I would do the quick and easy. Unscrew your eyeball. Then from box store. Thread in a standard PVC fitting. Get a few 1 - 1/2" pvc fittings elbows . Will try to add some pics. I sort of raised an extra eyeball for a foundation. You would do the same but lower.

Variable Speed vs Single Speed Pump on AGP

One of the worst mistakes I ever made was following advice to buy a 2 speed pump. Ended up after testing just running it on high all the time. On low there was not enough circulation to keep dirt suspended in water to make it to the skimmer. Which also had less suction. To look good had to vac...

Timer stops when it hits off tripper

Yes, breaker off then try that. Just to note. These are still the best brand. But common to have to replace. I have had them last 1 year and in other cases 10 years with no problems. I always keep a spare in stock for my pool. Not a question of if, but when you will need it. Also if replace you...

I'm really slow.. can I use an inground pump on AGP?

There will be better expert advice. But this is mine from just owning one 20 + years. I like a inground pump better. Has more suction when vacuuming. Besides easy to prime. Just check what you need as flow rate or GPM. Dont go by horse power. I remember a 3/4 hp inground pump I had from the...

    Bad hayward sand filter

I tried calling Hayward. He said the would only assist a year out of warranty. Also my PSI runs about 12 and I backwash if it ever gets 4 higher. Which is about 4 times a year.

    Bad hayward sand filter

Have 18' x 4" round AG pool. Buried part in ground and limited space under deck for where I have a trap door for sand filter. Anyway need a new sand filter. Had a Jacuzzi brand one for 30 years no problems. 4 Years ago replaced with a Hayward 18" sand filter model S180T. Seemed like the best...

Intermatic 120v T104 Pool Timer - Timer Dial Working but wont turn switch on or off

I have used the exact one for 30 years. Every so often you have to replace. 5 to 10 years. The motor is not strong enough anymore to turn the switch. Good thing is easy to change. Leave the box and just change the switch assembly. One clip and just pops out. I know this is an item that will...

    Chlorine without stabilzer

Thanks, I remembered reading about that. So when I tried it a couple years ago I did buy an extra dedicated floating dispenser just for the Calhypo. I hoped by now someone would make a normal puck that did not have stabilizer and would dissolve normally. recent FC= 6 CC = 2 pH = 7.6 TA = 60 CH...

    Chlorine without stabilzer

Thanks still learning I guess. But so I understand. I was told before that cal-hypo and trichlor pucks are not the same or compatible. And I can say that I dont get any residue in the pool from the trichlor pucks but I do with the cal-hypo caplets or granular. When pump cuts off have a pile in...

    Chlorine without stabilzer

Heard there was a new one out. I tried one years ago. Was a caplet. Powered wrapped in plastic. Just turned to mush when wet. and would not really dissolve. Have the same problem with small bags of shock treatment. Never seems to dissolve. Granulars end up in center of pool. I use mostly...

    New Non-stabilized chlorine tablets

I am thinking of trying them. Did not like the old ones I tried a few years back, did not dissolve good. Anyway would I have a problem. Online pool companies

For no where near that you should be able to get the very best. Check out Medallion Pools. Not much of a website. But they are a local manufacturer in my area. Family owned. robotic pool cleaner for above ground pool

I was looking for the same thing for a AG pool. Going by Amazon the Aquabot ones like the pool rover. Seem to have a lot that don't last. I was looking at a Dolphin Escape Robotic Above Ground Pool Cleaner. Has better ratings but more expensive and is a new model. Anyone compared models. So...

    Is Cal Hypo with bleach

Are all these chemicals compatible in AG Pol. For 20 years no problems using the pucks in my floating dispenser. Then couple years with stablizer going to high. Did not make since because my neighbor still had no problem with the pucks. But I was getting more shade from a tree. Anyway I was...

    Hayward wide mouth skimmer

Was going to replace my AG 18 ft lomart skimmer with a standard Hayward skimmer. Does the new wide mouth model really make that much difference? My skimmer is located under a trap door in the deck and may have to make some modifications if I went to the wide mouth. To change to either...

    Need new skimmer

Looking to change from an old LOmart skimmer in a 18 ft AG pool. Steel coated walls. Is the Hayward SP1091LX a good choice?. Also what gauge metal. Plan is to get a piece of stainless sheetmetal and do the cut out for the hayward. Then patch on exsisting pool. What gauge should I ask for...
