    CYA of 100...

Well the pool is blue and beautiful. I think all the rain from the TS truly helped. It nearly overflowed, and my CYA is down to 40 now due to the extra 3 inches in the pool. Already had my FC up to 25+ so it shocked the heck out of it. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I am definitely glad I...

    CYA of 100...

Aw man! Yeah I hope not either. I am sure it will flood my pool but that should be about it (hopefully). I am in central FL so shouldn't be getting hit as bad as some up north. I will try to wake up 10 mins earlier and get out there to test and dose. Good call. It shouldn't add too much to my...

    CYA of 100...

I personally find it easier to fill up 2.5 gallon reusable jugs than having to throw away all those bleach plastic jugs. Plus there are shorter lines at pool store usually. The pool store is on the way home from work too. But I may have to start doing that since the pool stores will be closing...

    CYA of 100...

I work 10 hour days so sadly I can only brush once per day, so yes it's getting a 45 min brush daily. I have brushed it for the last 14 days consecutively. Not an algae spot anywhere the plaster is perfectly clean I just have a looming cloud that settles daily on top. I test once a day...

    CYA of 100...

Well here I am nearly a week later. I drained the pool 5 days ago, down to 50 CYA now. Pretty happy with that, ready to tacke this algae... However.. I think I have mustard algae. I have done some searching on the forums and when I scrub the algae it is like a cloud when I scrub it off. My pool...

    CYA of 100...

I tried to do a manual siphon last night as I've done it before with success. Well I was having some problems so I gave up on that lol. I am renting a pump tonight I hope. Thanks for that link!!! It's available down the street from me. Woohoo!

    CYA of 100...

Yeah the pool company who did mine did not use a pump. They just came the day before and ran a big thick hose and siphoned and came back 24 hrs later. But the pump might not be a bad idea. I'll check local stores.

    CYA of 100...

Sooo.. I will be draining into the road (yes its legal where I live) theres a sewer drain right down the street. Just wondering how I can optimize my drain due to my limited hours off of work (I work way too much). Water hoses and will be using one of my old Kreepy Krauly long hoses as well. Any...

    CYA of 100...

Yeah I know. It still has a lot of chlorine in it, but I just can't get it up to the FC it needs to be with 100 CYA... I have been adding liquid only too but I ran out yesterday so no more til I stock up before the refill. I might drain it tonight so I can speed things up. I hate sitting and...

Switching from Chlorine Tabs to Bleach

You're in the same boat as me. I used Trichlor tabs and now my CYA is 100. I am doing a 50% pool drain this weekend to lower my CYA. If you don't lower it, you may be constantly fighting to keep enough chlorine in. I am aiming to get my CYA down to 50. I normally put bleach right in front of my...

    CYA of 100...

So I ran the diluted tap/pool water test. Did it multiple times. The result was 50. So it appears I am right at 100. Which means I will need to drain half the pool to get to 50 CYA I assume. I am waiting til Friday to do it due to work constraints. Wish I could do it earlier as I hate seeing my...

    CYA of 100...

I see. I'm using the TF-100 I bought from here. I will try diluting tonight. Gosh I hope it's not higher than 100. UGH! I hate the thought of dumping pool water out! Never had this issue before so it's a little disheartening. On the plus side, the plaster is super clean. There is just a green...

    CYA of 100...

So lets see. I have a full 27k gallons and 100 CYA... I need to drain off maybe about 4000 gallons? to get me to 80? I think I can manage at 80 til it lowers a little.

    CYA of 100...

I was worried that would be my answer. I need to wait til the chlorine dilutes to drain too. Oh well!

My review of the Nautilus Plus

Bringing up a dead post after a year to say this robot is sweet. It keeps my non screened pool spotless. after a year of weekly use no parts have had to be replaced. Definitely worth it in my opinion!

    CYA of 100...

Been using tablets and wondering why my pool is still green with chlorine in it. I test CYA tonight and I'm at 100 after 4 tests. Is my only option draining at this point? Wondering how long it would take to naturally lower itself. In Florida tons of rain. My wife was talked into buying 50 pound...

My review of the Nautilus Plus

No problem. A few people asked for some feedback on it after I said I bought it so I figured I would post it. I had a pool remodel project and was under budget so I had about $1,000 to spend on a cleaner, this only cost me around 680 dollars on sale so I took a chance. It is sooo much better...

My review of the Nautilus Plus

Good morning everyone. I purchased this unit about a month ago, and after using it, I can say it's the best pool cleaner I've ever owned. I hardly even have to brush my pool. It cleans up every speck of dirt and it keeps my pool cleaner than it has ever been. I went on vacation for a week and...

    Pool Light / transformer question..

Good call, I have been wanting to get a color changing bulb. Didn't get a chance to tear open the transformer this weekend between family plans and the ridiculous amount of rain.

Adding Muriatic Acid every 3 or 4 days

Hmmm A/C unit is a great idea... and I think I meant upwind lol. The wind blowing the MA fumes away from you.. definitely upwind :P

    Pool Light / transformer question..

The link I posted is incorrect, it's not a LED.. it's a normal pool light. Similar to this one: http://www.amazon.com/Hayward-SPX0541Z1-Compatible-Replacement-Underwater/dp/B00S0CQRCK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1435432315&sr=8-3&keywords=300+watt+pool+light It is just 1 light that goes in the...

    Pool Light / transformer question..

OK called pinch a penny they looked it up. it's a 300 wat 12v light. soo the 200 wat will not work. Guess I need a 300w 12v transformer then. The transformer at pinch a penny is 110 dollars.

    Pool Light / transformer question..

I don't know the wattage of the light it's been a little while since I checked. Here is what I bought: ProLED BR40 Pool Light Bulb Pool Light Bulb, Pro LED BR40 | Pinch A Penny Store From Pinch a penny. Weird, it doesn't show the watts. - - - Updated - - - The one that should be used is...

    Pool Light / transformer question..

Pool light isn't working.. I figured it might be the switch got wet and quit working. So last night in between rains, I ran outside and used the voltmeter on my switch. when I turn it on, i get that the signal is hot on both sides of the switch. This makes me think the transformer is to blame...

Adding Muriatic Acid every 3 or 4 days

I wouldn't recommend pouring acid into a measuring cup. That is your problem with the fumes hitting you. I just eye ball it. I turn my head away while pouring it and make sure to stay down wind always. You can't go wrong if you add a little too much in my eyes. Maybe if you have swimmers coming...

    Check out my numbers!

I was thinking the same about upping CYA, my pool has overflowed twice in 2 weeks. I assume water loss will be normal (before remodel I had a leak, so overflowing was the least of my worries). I will be in the pool tonight no doubt, after I do some electrician work and fix my pool light. I...

    Check out my numbers!

OK I just want the TFP pros to check my numbers, I just had my plaster pool remodeled so brand new plaster is on, 2nd week now. I can tell it's eating up the myuratic acid quickly as my PH rises every day. Anyways I did my TF test kit last night, here's what I'm at. CYA 35 (it was right between...

New pool remodel - Need advice on chemicals question

Just an update. Chemicals are officialy my job now. I accidentally bought OTO chlorine testing kit. That sucked. I was in a hurry as the pool store was closing in 5 mins and they were kind of rushing me. I may take it back. Anyways... Pool is holding chlorine and doing well according to my OTO...
