    Kafko Skimmer Weir Replacement Kit

Mine's a Kafko/Equator also. All that was here when we moved in (an older pool) was the weir door with nothing in the bottom opening. I looked at the replacement kit and wasn't sure it would work, and ended up using 2 shorter tubes that fit in the channel loosely with a small spring in the...

I just found a site that hasn't come up before. Home - Pool Test Kits Canada They only sell Taylor test kits and reagents, so assuming they will be fresh and hopefully fast. Delivery over $50 is free. Am about to order a 2 oz R-0781 to get me through the season and hopefully opening in the...

    Preparing for a big rain

lol - you're right of course! My head said mm, fingers wanted cm. Nice to have the water level up naturally for the first time this summer. Might even give me a few days before topping up (splashing and diving dog is not conducive to keeping water in the pool!)

    Preparing for a big rain

lol - with the non-accuracy of the rain predictions this summer, I might consider holding off on that unless you absolutely have to! I personally would welcome not having to pay to top off this summer. They say there could be up to 60 cm rain tomorrow in some spots, but I'm not holding my breath....

Heat Pump vs NG heater - Southern Ontario

One thing to keep in mind, one way or another. It's overkill to run your pump 24/7. It costs, and isn't needed. At the same time, you can't run your heater when the pump's not running, so, say you opt for a heat pump which is way slower, then either you have to add in the added cost to run the...

Heat Pump vs NG heater - Southern Ontario

As another point, again with our climate and cooler nights, a solar blanket is a big help, especially if the nights are a bit cooler. To save a bit more, if the night's going to cool off, I make sure to cover it at night and then run the heater for a bit, in off peak hydro hours (for the higher...

Heat Pump vs NG heater - Southern Ontario

Not an expert by any means, but we are in southern Ontario, so some thoughts. As far as heating, that's pretty easy. With our short swimming season, and variable temperatures, and considering cost to operate a properly sized gas heater is going to be your best option. The gas heater will heat...

Where can I get the TF-100 in Canada?

You can check this post for a couple of possibilities: Test kits in Canada . Also, the distributor for Canada is Lowry & Associates. You could contact them. They supply to a number of pool companies, and when I asked at one near me, they said they could order it for me. I replaced all my...

A Canadian Please and Thank you!!

Try putting a swim sock in your skimmer basket (they look sort of like white knee-high stockings - can get at any pool supply place or someplace like Canadian Tire). Change when dirty and wash it for reuse. It will pick up a lot of fine silt and speed up clearing of the water.

Very nervous about setting up the new pool!!

You can order the Taylor kit from Paul Giroux at Piscines Apollo Pools, (piscines-apollo.com). They are located in Quebec, are very responsive and ship very quickly. It's more expensive than south of the border, but should last the year, and after that you just have to order any reagents you're...
