    solar pannel orientation question

Thanks for the info. What I think I may do is to put them on a shallow north angle but make the rack hinged at the top with a prop system so that I can stand it up to lay flat to get some more of that late afternoon sun. I actually get pretty good sun right there...but i'm sure later in the...

    solar pannel orientation question

I'm getting ready to install my solar pannels. The only real good option I have is to face them north/northeast at a 30 deg or so angle. The area does get good sun all day. I've heard that north facing is the least desirable. However, I live in the upper midwest where swimming season is only...

    Heat pump users?

I don't know that the climate here would be a limiting factor for using a heat pump. I have an air source heat pump as the primary heat source for my home. Of course, it only works when the temp is above 20 degrees F or so... Sounds like the pool heat pumps work effectively at temps above 50...

    Heat pump users?

Hi all, I'm planning for my second year with our Splash 17X29 15,000 gallon pool. Along with an extensive deck build, I'm considering a method of heating. I live in North Dakota so pool season is a little shorter for us. Even when the day and evening temps are very reasonable, it can still...

New Taylor kit and FC problems....

So I got my Taylor K-2006 kit a couple weeks ago and it's been working great for me. I left for a few days and did an FC test this morning. I got no color change whatsoever when adding the R-0870 powder. Never had this problem before. So I added an amt of chlorine that should have brought...

Another newbie with a balancing question

Just the info I was looking for. Thank you very much. From what I understand...calcium scaling isn't as much of a concern in a vinyl lined pool or similar so I'll continue to concentrate on getting a good CYA level while maintaining chlorine and PH. It's amazing how much you can learn in a week!

Another newbie with a balancing question

BoDarville, Good idea. I did test everything while the pool was filling with the garden hose and before I introduced anything to the water. The TA was pretty much the same as it was today after running for a day so I suspect that the TA in my source water is the culprit. Is the higher TA...

Another newbie with a balancing question

Just hooked up the filter yesterday. Added some stabilizer to bring up the CYA and some bleach. Ran the numbers tonight and came up with: FC=5 PH=7.4 TA=250 CYA=TBD So far the FC and PH look fine to me but why such a high TA? Is that normal in new pools? This is an ABG Splash Superpool...
