Re: Treating algae - can't identify what kind it is - need h I don't have a good test kit (yet) - I'm working on that - reviewing the TF-100. Is that one people seem to be happy with?

Treating algae - can't identify what kind it is - need help!

Re: Treating algae - can't identify what kind it is - need h We don't backwash, but remove the 4 cartridge filters entirely and spray them off. They were literally caked with dirt, hair and bugs. We pulled out the pressure washer to gently get them decent looking while I order new ones. At...

Treating algae - can't identify what kind it is - need help!

Re: Treating algae - can't identify what kind it is - need h I'll have to pull my numbers and post - I don't have them here at work. This only appears along the creases, depressions of the liner and along the steps, in corners and around the drain. It's very fine and I can't use my polaris to...

Treating algae - can't identify what kind it is - need help!

Per local pool store (I know, I know), they are claiming (without seeing it) that I do in fact have mustard algae. It has turned from a medium brownish fine dust to a lighter brown. I vaccum it up, it's gone only to return the next day. Its been a very warm summer for our neck of the woods...

Cooling the pool- water to warm!

Looking for reviews on the mist cooling system I read about. Many good reviews online, but I always take those with a grain of salt...Our 18x40 IG has been very warm this summer, between 92-97 and is just not refreshing. I am willing to try this system as we'd have to empty a lot of water out...

I've come to the conclusion salt is eating my flagstone

I found your post interesting as we have first encountered the same fine brownish dust in the bottom of our SWG pool this year. We vaccum but then it's back again in a day or two. We don't have flagstone coping, never had a mustard algae problem - knock on wood...We do have an auto cover and...

    Low borate level

Thank you for the replies. I've purchased 55#'s of Boric Acid from DudaDiesel. Now I'm looking for a calculation to determine how much of this I'll need. Currently my borates = 15. Enjoy the 40+level. Pool is 28,000 gal. Is there a calculation on this site to help me? I can only find the...

    Low borate level

Upon opening our pool this year we found our salt cell wasn't operating and after a month of trying to get pool chemistry right with pool store we finally determined something else was wrong. Cell was replaced, but since then the borate level has been at 15. I know store works off commission...
