I have algae again! What am I doing wrong?

These pictures were taken at night with the pool light on. The color seems way more green on here than it actually is. The first pic shows a little bit of algae on the floor of the pool. Second pic is on the side of the ledge in the deep end, where I see the most algae. (When we bought the...

I have algae again! What am I doing wrong?

So I posted on here and slammed my pool for the first time in late July after draining and replacing 70% of water because CYA was so high. It was crystal clear and beautiful for a couple weeks, then I noticed algae a couple weeks ago. So I slammed again. Looked pretty good and made sure to test...

Help! Testing for the first time.

Help! Testing for the first time.

Ahhh...I forgot to multiply by 2. I guess my CYA is actually at 160. Makes sense now. I drained a few inches this evening. Looks like I'm going to need to drain a lot more! Random question...what makes the diluted CYA test a more accurate measure of CYA? I guess my organic chemistry class in...

Help! Testing for the first time.

When I did the diluted CYA test, it looks like my CYA is at about 80. So I did the regular CYA test to see if I was seeing things and I still got the same result as my original test...about higher than 100. So which do I go by?

Help! Testing for the first time.

We bought a new house in October with an inground plaster pool. I am committed to maintaining it myself. I had been using test strips and shock, and whatever else I would find online about what to do to take care of whatever my current issue was. I found this site and am really excited to...
