Hi! I bought the TF 100 test kit a couple years ago when I was converting from Bacquacil to chlorine, and it is very easy to use. Very clear instructions on how to do each test. Hang in there, it's worth it!

I tried to upload photos of the conversion, but the files were too large for the Board. :( The only one I was able to upload shows the nasty brown/grey/green color of the water right after pouring in the first dose of bleach! Crystal clear now!

I wanted to post an update on how things are going after the conversion - I couldn't be happier! The water is staying crystal clear, with minimal maintenance. I'm testing FC/CC about twice a week (CC has been 0 every time!), ph about once a week, and adding bleach according to the pool...

OH boy...I need some guidance please...I needed to add cya, so I added CYA granules, "dissolved" in water. As you can guess, I now have UNDISSOLVED cya granules all over the bottom of the pool. I've since consulted Pool School and now know I should have put the cya in a sock in the skimmer...

Performing the OCLT tonight - levels now are: FC 6.5 CC <0.5 TA 60 CH 110 Ph 7.5 CYA 0 I'll see how the FC and CC are in the morning, then worry about bumping up TA, CH, and CYA. Not sure I even want to bother with bumping up the CH, since it's a vinyl pool?

Got back late last night after being away 9 days - checked the levels this morning - FC 0.5, CC 0.5 (both were probably less than that - the water was barely noticeably pink), and the CYA is 0. BUT, the water is sparkly clear! Wooo hoooo! :-D

THANKS!! It's getting there - performed the OCLT (correctly this time) last night - at 10:15p, the FC was 18, CC 1. This morning at 8:15am, the FC is 14.5 and the CC is 1. So, not quite there, but not losing a ton of FC overnight either. I'm home all day today, so I'll be able to continually...

Thanks Bama Rambler - due to having the 54" walls, I calculated the depth as being 48", which fits, if a 52" pool would be 46" deep. Much appreciated!

The TF 100 is here!! :-D I did the FAS-DPD test, and got: FC 1, CC 1 - so that means that I keep the FC level at 15. More bleach!

Well, the water is still nice and sparkling clear! The FC this morning was about 3-5 (the strips are really hard to read), so I split the difference and added the appropriate amount of bleach for 4 FC. Am I ready now to begin the next steps? The wife and kids are looking at the pool and seeing...

8pm FC was 0 as expected, so added bleach accordingly - water is clear and inviting! Can't wait for the next step now.

OK thanks Leebo - when I started the process, it was at 7.2. and it's now gone down to 6.8. I'm only using hth test strips until the TF100 kit arrives, which test for FC, ph, TH, TA, etc. If I'm hearing you right, I should go ahead and work on bumping up the ph?

I've been testing the water each time before I add the bleach.

HA! :-D I love it! That's what my garage looks like now! But the results are showing - this morning the FC was 3, so I added more bleach, and the water is getting very clear. The pool is looking inviting! The ph is at 6.8 - should I start to address that now?
