    replacing pump fitting

thanks jason ..... was able to pick up some Rectorseal Tru-Blu at home depot. it's teflon based and says it is specifically formulated for vibration areas -- I figured the outlet to the pump qualifies as a vibration area. not sure how long it takes to cure since the directions state it "varies...

    replacing pump fitting

I have a dura-glas P2R series pump that developed a crack in the fitting that attaches to the pump body discharge. the fitting is a 2" on the pipe side and 1.5" on the pump side (this is stamped on the fitting itself). I'm assuming the fitting threads into the pump body. the reason I say this is...

I downloaded Java 6 Update 15 on a windows 7 box and I just get the 'Vibrant Pool' splash screen similar to sgtdvldog above, then nothing. I verified the java RTE installed and is operating properly by confirming at the java web site. does this software only work with java releases prior to...

Access database for tracking pool data

No. this is fine curtis. I performed your steps above and everything relinked fine to the other dB tables. I was planning on modifying your tables slightly to allow for my SWG data. I may even put this on my home server and build some front end ASP web pages so I can access/modify the dB from...

Access database for tracking pool data

I was able to download and extract the zip file from your download site. I was only able to accomplish steps 1 and 2 in your above instructions -- I never got the macros message. however, I'm having the same problem as vegas_dp with the invalid path. it appears you have somehow hard coded the...

replacement motor bearings for A.O. Smith

hey I'm in the dog house enough as it is -- now your wife will be on my case too?! aaahhhhhhhh!!

replacement motor bearings for A.O. Smith

did you keep the old motor? if so, go ahead and order the bearings and attempt to swap them out. worst case, you'll be out the cost of the bearings. best case -- you have a motor ready to go as a spare and you gain the experience of DIY (plus, you can take your time :-D )

replacement motor bearings for A.O. Smith

the Aladdin gokits on poolcenter.com don't include the bearings. is there a better source for the gokits? http://www.poolcenter.com/service_repair_pump_valve_repair_kits.htm

replacement motor bearings for A.O. Smith

true, I expect the bearings delivered will be in the $40 range. my neighbor has a bearing puller -- he doesn't know yet that I'm going to be borrowing it  I like to try things at least once and am somewhat mechanically inclined, so I thought I would give it a shot -- maybe I'll post...

replacement motor bearings for A.O. Smith

returned from 1 week vacation to a screeching pump motor - not horrific, but I wouldn't want to spend several hours out on the patio having to listen to it. thought, "great another $200+ for a new motor". looked in my records and saw that the motor is only 4 years old. I figure it should last...

Using a Peristaltic pump for Acid

okay, I'm getting more and more of an itch to get this going. I'll probably use a 10 gal tank for my storage solution since I have the space, but other than that I'm going to follow your set-up as a baseline approach. for the fitting you used to dispense the acid into the pvc water line, did...

Using a Peristaltic pump for Acid

so, essentially your "high speed run time" is 24 minutes (in your case) that you program into the service menu to operate the peristaltic pump from, say -- 10:00am to 10:24 am?

Using a Peristaltic pump for Acid

dave, all your info has been helpful -- as I am seriously considering doing a set-up similar to yours. I'm a little confused as to what settings you now have in the pool pilot service menus regarding pump configuration. prior to your integration of the peristaltic pump into your pool pilot...

Using a Peristaltic pump for Acid

okay, great! the pic along with the above description did the trick. one more question: if your peristaltic pump had been rated at 220v would you have just used the 220v circuit from your pool pump timer to supply the acid pump electrical requirement instead of pulling a dedicated 110v line?

Using a Peristaltic pump for Acid

nice job HDTV --- very nice job! I've been following your thread since april anticipating pics .... and you delivered :) Since installing our pool pilot about a month ago the acid demand has gone up about 50%, so I'm looking for a more automated method of delivery such as what you have done. As...

Installed the Pool Pilot ….. finally

thanks for the Kudos! yeh, I know what you mean about the filter inlet/outlet plumbing -- my intent is to wait until the pump needs replacing, then re-plumb that whole area. I believe the previous owner originally had a DE filter. when they swapped it out for the Hayward, they probably just did...

Installed the Pool Pilot ….. finally

For various reasons I was unable to install an SWG last year, however my goal for this spring was to “get’er done”. I had posted several questions about a year ago regarding location alternatives of the manifold/cell assembly in my pool set-up. Poolsean, Strannik, JasonLion and others...

    Adjust pH or TA first?

yeh, that's what I typically do (I use liquid Cl). I'll add a little acid and the TA number doesn't really move much. my pool likes to hover around a TA of 70. I was just curious if I go on vacation say, then come back and my pH is 8 and TA is below 70 --what order do I attack it. in my limited...

    Adjust pH or TA first?

If I’m at the upper limit on pH and the lower limit on TA which should I address first? Or does it matter? My pH is currently 7.8 and TA is 70. I know each affects the other, but is it more advisable to lower pH first by adding acid or should I raise TA first by adding baking soda? I entered...

want to install Pool Pilot -- where do I put it?

okay, thanks for the encouragement. :) Not to be too anal (oops, might be too late!), but how do I re-plumb the ‘Leg A’ to accept the Pool Pilot manifold/90 degree elbow, if I only have half an inch of 2” pvc to ‘hook’ onto? I’ve attached a photo to illustrate. Once I remove the...
