    A TFP pic...

It looks like this every day with minutes of effort...this pool was BLACK when I opened it. You MUST follow POOL SCHOOL to the letter. This liner is about 16 years old. We have had two liners in the 26 years this pool has been open. It has been stained brown and orange at times. Follow the...

    FYI:Green pools are expensive...

I see lots of desperate, panicked posts on here that seem to be looking for a magic, cheap, fast bullet....there is none. If your pool is a swamp, be prepared to dump what seems like an alarming amount of bleach into your pool. Yes, you MUST purchase/find things such as a good test kit, pole...

Is there a downloadable version of pool school?

I'd like to have one to keep in a binder for quick reference...like a printable .pdf file.

    Always had trouble with CYA...

until this year. CYA is so low that I can still see the dot easily even with a full tube. The water in the comparator is mildly milky when the tube is full. Water is clear in the pool and SLAM is done. However, we are going to use the pool this weekend. I am using pucks to raise the CYA...

Is that color match chart still around for the OTO type tests?

You know, the one that went all the way to a brown color for the chlorine test. Have a person who is needing to get by with a basic test kit for the summer.

    CC Question

Is it OK for CC to go to 1 while a group is swimming? I checked earlier today and got 0 CC. It is now at around 1. Is the increase due to bodies, sunscreen, etc. in the water?

    CYA Whacked....

So I use the BBB method, CYA got jacked up due to using leftover Di-chlor powder before the switch this year. I literally opened up the pool this year to a black swamp that smelled like a sewer. I mean I really chucked that stuff in there to clear the water. The CYA was around 20 when I...

    DPD Powder

When I use the DpD powder it does not totally dissolve. Their are clear crystals left in the bottom of the comparator. What are these? Will this effect the test?

    Viamin C

Where is a good source for bulk vitamin C powder? I have staining every year from the iron water I have to use in the pool. I have used Vit C for years, but tired of paying pool store prices.
