Constant brushing & vacuuming, with little results!

Yes, the CYA is still at 40. I've been keeping the FC level at 16. Should I continue to run the pump 24/7 or can I run it for half a day and be ok?

Constant brushing & vacuuming, with little results!

Here are a few pics from yesterday. Tomorrow makes 1 full week of SLAM and I still find myself still scrubbing and vacuuming algae from the pool floor. I'm ready to bring the chlorine levels back down to normal so we can actually use the pool over the next several days which it will be nice...

Constant brushing & vacuuming, with little results!

The FC dropped .5 overnight. The water is crystal clear, however, every morning there is still a thin layer of algae sitting on the pool floor that I scrub over to the deep end and then vacuum up.

Constant brushing & vacuuming, with little results!

ok, so I've been doing the SLAM process for 4 days straight now. I've kept the FC levels exactly where they need to be and have kept the filter running. I vacuum the entire pool once per day (backwash and rinse as needed). The water is now crystal clear but every morning when I run the brush...

Constant brushing & vacuuming, with little results!

I'm not sure why but this year I've been struggling to keep my water crystal clear/blue. Literally every morning I have a layer of what looks to be brown algae completely covering the pool floor. I have brushed, vacuumed, brushed again, vacuumed, backwashed, rinsed, and adequately shocked the...

Filter pressure increases 5 psi in 8 hours, normal?

Forgot to mention in the initial post that if I turn the filter off for an hour and turn it back on, the psi goes back down to 12 again. In the pics the water does look cloudy maybe due to the overcast day as well as the filter moving the water. When the water is still, you can clearly see the...

Filter pressure increases 5 psi in 8 hours, normal?

CYA is 0-10. I am adding stabilizer tomorrow to get it into the 30-50 range. Also, the sand in the filter was replaced last season about midway through the summer (if that helps any)

Filter pressure increases 5 psi in 8 hours, normal?

I backwashed for 3 minutes and rinsed prior to vacuuming and running it for 8 hours this morning. Should I backwash again so soon?

Filter pressure increases 5 psi in 8 hours, normal?

I've noticed the psi in our Hayward sand filter jumps from 12 to 17 when run for 8 hours. In years past I've never noticed this kind of increase in pressure. Prior to running the filter for 8 hours, I did vacuum the pool which had a little dirt spread throughout the bottom. My water is clear and...

Newly Filled pool with town water

Yes, I did put in some algaecide as well as a Stain & Scale control to help prevent metallic stains. When initially filled with town water, it was a green color until I added the Stain & scale, as well as 4 bags of shock. The water seemed to clear after that but then after I had opened and...

Newly Filled pool with town water

18-20k gallon gunite pool with fiberglass walls. Brand new k2006 test kit numbers - FC - 1.6 CC - .2 pH - 7.6 Alk - 80 CH - 60 CYA - 0 The water is clear but is slight yellow-brownish (see pics). I know I have to raise my CH to between 250-300 and I'd like my CYA in the 40-50 range. I did...

    How much CH?

I have a gunite pool with fiberglass walls. My current CH level is about 170. Should I aim to up that to 250 with this kind of pool or just stand pat?

New to the BBB method, Here are my test results thus far..

Re: New to the BBB method, Here are my test results thus far Ok my FC seems to be holding steady under 1 the past few overnights. The water is now very cloudy and unlike several days ago I can't see the bottom (of the deep end). I haven't check my CC in a few days but here are a few other test...

Re: New to the BBB method, Here are my test results thus far Had my FC shock level at 13.5 by sundown yesterday. Tested again this morning prior to sunrise and was at a 10 FC shock level. I added more shock before leaving for work (unfortunately shocking every hour during the week isn't...

Re: New to the BBB method, Here are my test results thus far I already shocked earlier and am still only at a 170 CH level. So, you recommend I buy Cal Hypo and use that to shock? Where can I get it from?

New to the BBB method, Here are my test results thus far..

Re: New to the BBB method, Here are my test results thus far I only used the chart on the Stabilizer bottle to assume how many parts CYA I would have in my 16k pool from adding 4 lbs of it. From there I was able to determine that I needed my FC shock level to be at 12 which I'm actually at...

Re: New to the BBB method, Here are my test results thus far Ok I just shocked the pool now assuming the CYA level will be in the 25-30ppm according to the chart on the Stabilizer bottle. Once I'm at "shock level" do I then worry about getting my other areas tweaked to where they need to be?

Re: New to the BBB method, Here are my test results thus far No, this wasn't a fresh fill. The CYA (before adding the 4 lbs) was zero because I could still see the black dot after filling the tube.

PH - 7.2 CL - 5 ALK - 70-80 BR - 10 CH - 160-170 FC - 5ppm CC - .5ppm TC - 5.5pm Water still seems a tad on the green side & cloudy but the bottom is easily visible. I just added 4 lbs of HTH Stabilizer & Conditioner Sunday afternoon but haven't tested the CYA level yet because I read it could...
