    EC 40 Filter Replacement?

I've been using the TFP method for many years. I am about ready to close for the season and looking for advice on my Hayward EC 40 Filter. It is currently leaking the DE back into the pool. I know one or more of the fingers must be torn or the nest may be cracked or gasket worn/torn. (10...

    Trust my numbers

Wildcat, I am not meaning to hijack your thread, but I had a similar result yesterday. I needed to pick up a new wall brush and the local pool store had them on sale. I figured while I was there, I would take "advantage" of their "free" testing. Below are my results, and their results. If...

For all the TFP maintenance converts...

I have gone away for up to a week with no ill effects by bringing it to shock level, putting the solar cover on and shutting the pump down. When I get home I raise the Chlorine level again to be sure nothing is starting to grow and run the pump for 24 hours.

How preccisely do you meeasure bleach?

I just use a 64 oz water pitcher with marking every 8 oz. If I need 20 oz of bleach I fill it half way between the 16 and 24 oz markings. Close enough for Government Work for me. :)

    help!

I suggest picking up a TF-100 test kit and following the advice of the knowledgeable folks on this site. You'll be splashing it up in your pool before you know it!

    Save The Swamp! Er, pool...

Quick suggestion on the skimmer sock. I buy knee highs at Walmart for $0.33 a pair. They do a fine job and are cheap.

    Valley Pool-Pool Store

I buy my bleach at Costco/Sam's Club in the 3 pack box. (8.59/box) A couple of years ago, WalMart had their Great Value in a 3 pack as well and it was a great value! If memory serves me, the Great Value 3 pack sold for around 7.39. Haven't seen it there though for since that summer...

    Valley Pool-Pool Store

21 welcome to TFP--I was in the Valley Pool store in Greensburg yesterday to pick up some hardware (The only thing I go to a Pool Store for). While waiting to check out, I overheard a gentleman who was bringing in some water for testing. He explained to the gal behind the counter that he was...

    2014 Weather

Our pool in SWPA has only briefly made it to the low 80's this year and with next weeks "summer" polar vortex predicted I am afraid it will be back into the low 70's again

    Just opened in Pittsburgh PA

Just opened up today a little south east of Pittsburgh. FC was 0, PH 7.0 +/-, CYA I am guessing 20 or so as the tube filled up before the dot vanished. I added 35 oz of stabilizer (in a sock) to hopefully get CYA to about 40 but won't know until later this week for sure. I added 112 oz of...

    Black grease in skimmer

I always thought it was pollen in my skimmer. When the solar cover is on my pool, it will take several days to build up, but when the cover is off and more water surface is exposed, it will build up rather quickly in the skimmer.

Anyone have problems with Composite Decking like Trex?

We have two composite decks. The deck on our house is 11 years old, cedar color, uncovered, with full afternoon sun. Other than power washing it every spring, it looks as good as the day it was built. Our pool deck is 5 years old and the color is more of an egg shell to match our AGP. Again...
