Pentair Triton II TR100 cracked...replace with same?

I've been talking with some local pool professionals. I am getting different opinions and really don't know which way to go. Some say stick with the TR100 its the best filter ever. Others say switch to a Pentair Cartridge filter for better filter performance. Stating that the cartridge filter...

Pentair Triton II TR100 cracked...replace with same?

My TR100 has cracked at the top and the leak is progressively getting worse. Not sure what caused the failure. The filter has a 2010 mfg date, which makes it 8 yrs old. We've been in the house for 6 years. My main question is do I replace it with the same filter, or should I look at other...

Pump won't retain prime while running

Water level is high. In fact it is above normal as we have had several storms this week. I have confirmed it does not appear to be sucking air at the skimmer.

Pump won't retain prime while running

Hi all, I noticed this morning my pump dedicated to my in-floor system had lost its prime. I have done as much troubleshooting as possible but can't figure it out. It doesn't seem to be that it can't get prime, but that as soon as it does it loses it again and then cycles this way over and over...

Roughly how much aeration to raise pH?

I'm pretty new here, but I believe I have read on here several times that the pH test will not be accurate anytime FC is above 10ppm. So may want to wait until FC drops a bit more and retest. Sent from my mobile device using Tapatalk2

Can't seem to get TA below 100

Yeah, I have ran 2 OCLT's since refill and both passed with 0ppm loss. So I have confirmed my FC loss is only occurring during the day. The pool is typically used daily, and gets direct sun for about 10 hours or so. We had a week of 115°+ temps shortly after the drain and refill, which drove...

Can't seem to get TA below 100

OK, makes sense. So the rise in TA due to evap/refill looks like it would be at a slow enough rate per month that It shouldn't be significantly hard to stay on top of once I get it down to where it should be. I am going to keep pH down daily to 7.2, rather than letting it rise to 8.0 before...

Can't seem to get TA below 100

Just had a thought...how does evaporation affect TA? I read an article here in Phoenix recently that said the average pool in Phoenix loses 2,500gal per month to evaporation. That would mean 15% of my water evaporates monthly! My fill water has a TA of 130, so if I'm replacing the 15%...

Can't seem to get TA below 100

I have been adding acid every time the pH hits 8, to bring it down to between 7.0-7.2, then from there it rises .20 each day, and I repeat when it hits 8 again. Other than the Calcium Chloride I added today to raise CH, I have only added bleach and acid over the last 3 weeks. Sent from my...

Can't seem to get TA below 100

I have been doing infrequent aeration with a wall fountain that covers most the pool when on. I will run it more often as I dose acid more often. Sent from my mobile device using Tapatalk 2

Can't seem to get TA below 100

Right, thanks. That is where I got the smaller more frequent dosing of acid, as long as I understand it correctly. Sent from my mobile device using Tapatalk 2

Can't seem to get TA below 100

OK, so that's what I wasn't clear on...that TA naturally rises as pH rises. So rather than using acid every time I hit a pH of 8 every few days, it looks like maybe I should add a little acid every day and also aerate...and that should lower TA faster...am I understanding that correctly? Can't seem to get TA below 100

First off, a huge thanks to everyone here at TFP...your knowledge has been indispensable. So, I am going on 3 weeks now of BBB. I did a 80% drain and refill 3 weeks ago to resolve a high CYA issue. Here are what my numbers were immediately after refill: FC: 5.5 CC: 0.5 pH: 7.6 TA: 130 CH: 140...

Does my FC usage seem normal?

sorry, as of my last full test a few days ago: TA: 110 CH: 140 Just added acid again this morning to lower Ph, so expect TA to lower to around 100 CYA was last checked Sunday after refill was complete, and registered at 50 Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2

Does my FC usage seem normal?

I did a normal OCLT again last night and passed with a loss of 0ppm. So, it appears consumption is definitely only occurring during the day from loss to sun & swimmers in the pool. The pool gets about 10 hours of direct sunlight, and the water temp this time of year is usually around...

Does my FC usage seem normal?

I swear it's like groundhog day or something...maybe I have to keep reliving it until I figure out the secret! So I added the additional 96oz. Of 6% and retested. Now reading FC at 9.5ppm. I will try the additional OCLT at shock level this weekend...thanks for that suggestion Sent from my...

Does my FC usage seem normal?

I have been keeping a log of my testing since my drain/refill last weekend. I am struggling with staying above the min of 4ppm for my recommended CYA of 50. I performed the OCLT on Sunday after bringing my FC to 8, which remained at 8 the next morning. Monday night my FC had dropped to 3.5. So I...

Getting ready to drain & refill...what do I need to know?

Re: Getting ready to drain & refill...what do I need to know Took the picture not long after brushing all the dust towards the drain from the storm last night...so the water clouded up a little. Water was very clear prior to brushing....gotta love the dessert summer dust storms. My in-floor...

Getting ready to drain & refill...what do I need to know?

Re: Getting ready to drain & refill...what do I need to know Happy to report that I passed the OCLT last night! I was a little worried since a pretty big dust storm blew in about 10pm. But my FC level remained steady at 8.0 ppm overnight from about 9:30pm to 6:30am! My pH was starting to creep...

Getting ready to drain & refill...what do I need to know?

Re: Getting ready to drain & refill...what do I need to know So, do I need to lower pH? I was under the impression 7.6 was a good range for pH... OK, so basically I will need to get a feel for what my average daily FC consumption is, then add that to the min to get my dosing target...correct...

Getting ready to drain & refill...what do I need to know?

Re: Getting ready to drain & refill...what do I need to know OK. Refill is complete. Here is my latest test results: FC: 5.5 CC: 0.5 pH: 7.6 TA: 130 CH: 140 CYA: 50 (slightly less, but I will use this as my number) If I am correct in what I am learning in pool school, my TA is high and my CH...

Getting ready to drain & refill...what do I need to know?

Re: Getting ready to drain & refill...what do I need to know I don't believe my entire fill will be soft water, as the softener only has the ability to soften a certain amount of water each day, and then hard water comes out until it regenerates overnight. So I would imagine the majority of my...

Getting ready to drain & refill...what do I need to know?

Re: Getting ready to drain & refill...what do I need to know OK, that's how I will proceed. Thanks for the confirmation. I was a bit skeptical of that as well, but thought maybe it was due to the fact that my fill water goes through my water softener?? I did not perform a second test of the...

Getting ready to drain & refill...what do I need to know?

Re: Getting ready to drain & refill...what do I need to know Here are test results as of right now....pool is about 60% filled: FC: 8.5 CC: 0.5 pH: 7.6 TA: 120 CH: 200 I am figuring its not worth testing CYA until its filled, but since I drained 80% of the pool, expecting it to be around 40...

Re: Getting ready to drain & refill...what do I need to know Should I add anything while the pool is refilling, or wait until it is done filling and see where the numbers are? I did run a test on the fill water and here are the results: FC: 0.5 CC: 0.5 pH: 7.6 TA: 130 CH: 0 Since it is...
