Same thing happened to my new pump motor....turned out to be the wiring was wrong for the voltage. Rewired the motor and problem went away.

Thanks. I did find a tiny drip at the bottom of the chlorinator dial, which is probably the o-ring. I did try to re-orient the handle on the valve, but it would only go one way due to the grooves. Probably a good thing for those who are directionally challenged like myself!
