    Intex plunger valve question

Perhaps these adapters would work? I think your pool has 1.25 in hoses and the plunger valves use 1.5 in hoses, so even if there are threads on your inlet/outlet, I don't think the plunger valves would screw onto them because they're too big. Can you post a picture of them?

    Intex drain plug problem

I'm having a leaking problem with one of the drain plugs on my Intex pool. The plug on the inside started leaking a bit two years ago. I solved the problem by sealing the outside cap with some teflon tape. That stopped it from leaking for two seasons, but now the cap is cracked and it's...

    Saltwater and my lawn

I was just wondering if my saltwater pool is doing any long term damage to my lawn or soil. I have an Intex pool that gets drained and stored every year. That's a lot of salt that keeps getting absorbed into the lawn. If I keep doing this year after year, will all that salt eventually cause...

    What is E.C.O.?

Ah, thanks chem geek. You just answered my previous questions. Ok it sounds like I can just run it without worrying about the ECO or unplugging it. If the only negative is pH rise, then that's not a big deal. I'm constantly lowering my pH anyway due to my SWG and my water's very high TA.

    What is E.C.O.?

I haven't actually seen it, just pictures online and a description from the online manual. There does appear to be a separate electrode for it, at the outlet end. No mention of copper in the manual, so they must have gotten rid of that and replaced it with the ECO. It does sound like a...

    What is E.C.O.?

I've looked on Intex's website. Did not find a replacement cell anywhere. I know they used to have it available, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore.

    What is E.C.O.?

I think my Intex SWG is on its last legs. Keeps displaying low salt even though the cell has been cleaned and my salt level is around 3300 ppm. This will be its 5th summer. The cheapest one on Amazon is the newest model and it has Electrocatalytic Oxidation (E.C.O.) What on earth is that...

My coworker just revealed to me his method of pool care....

Well if that works for him, then great. You should do what works for you. You already described your pool as if you were "swimming in diamonds," so obviously the method you're using is working. You're certainly welcome to try his method and if you like it better, then more power to you. If...

    OCLT at normal levels

I'm already a little above normal levels (I'm at 12.5 with a CYA of 70) so I went ahead and did the test and my overnight loss was zero, so I'd say I'm good. My SWG keeps flashing low salt even after a thorough cleaning and I don't have any test strips at the moment to verify a low salt level...

Intex return holes in liner is too big?

I replaced my Intex return with a Hayward one and it sealed just fine for me with no modifications. I didn't use silicone either. Just hold the return in the center of the hole as best you can while screwing the nut on. It should work just fine, even though the hole is a little big. Use a...

    OCLT at normal levels

Does the OCLT need to be done at shock level? Or is it still valid at normal chlorine levels?

    start up chemicals

That's why most of us use bleach or a SWG as our chlorine source since they don't raise cya. If you're going to use a tablet feeder, then back washing your filter and a partial drain every season will help keep cya in check but you'll still need to monitor it.

Blonde hair and Intex SWG with Copper

You could always just unplug the copper bars if you're worried about green hair or staining. Might have to give it a little force, but the cord should come off. Be sure to unscrew the small black nut first though.

Want to switch to a sand filter unit...

I think the filter pump you currently have might use 1 1/2 in. hoses. If it does, you would need some adapters and a pair of 1 1/4 in. hoses to make the new one work, since it has 1 1/4 in fittings. You could also look at the Intex sand filter pumps. They work well and would connect easily.

    Newbie-New (Green) Pool-Looking for Advice

You have to hold it at shock level the entire time or the algae will just grow back faster than the chlorine can kill it. 7+ hours in daylight between chlorine additions is just too long if you're fighting algae.

Pressure gauge on Intex cartridge filter pump?

Ok, I know this is probably a silly question, but is it possible to add a pressure gauge to an Intex cartridge filter pump? It'd be nice to know exactly when I need to clean the cartridge rather than just guessing. I have to stick with an Intex pump because I would have to bond a standard...

    Shock level

Pool school says that shock level for a CYA of 70 is 28, while Pool Calculator says it's 20. Which one is correct?

What pump to drain pool for winter?

Here's one from Menards: http://www.menards.com/main/plumbing/pu ... c-8673.htm Or you could also try siphoning the water out with a garden hose: http://www.ehow.com/how_7154397_siphon- ... -pool.html

    Let the pool games begin!

I'm by no means an expert on this, (or even an amateur) but I would think that if the pool builder is the general contractor for all this, then they would be responsible for obtaining any permits, zoning certificates, utility markings, etc and they would be at fault for this. Essentially, a...

    HTH 6-Way Test Kit

Oops, didn't see that. I guess "from across the pond" should have been my first clue. I'm thoroughly embarrassed now. My apologies, please disregard my earlier post.

    HTH 6-Way Test Kit

You can probably get the HTH 6-Way at Walmart for around the same price. Just make sure it's the 6-way drop test kit, not the 6-way strips.

    Trouble with Hayward weir

Yes, my water level is about halfway up the skimmer. Here's a picture. With the Styrofoam I glued to it, the weir will eventually float to this position when the pump is off. Sounds like I'll be getting a new skimmer next summer.

    Trouble with Hayward weir

It looks as if there's some sort of "holder" on the back of the weir for the foam, but I'm not sure. And like I said, no such foam was included or mentioned in the manual. Plus, all the pics in the instructions do not show any foam on it. I glued some Styrofoam to the back and now it seems to...

    Trouble with Hayward weir

Nope, there is no foam on it. Was I supposed to attach it? Because no such foam was even included with it and the instructions make no mention of it either. I suppose I could glue some styrofoam to it. Would that work? And then, how do I stop it from opening into the pool? Should I glue a...

    Trouble with Hayward weir

I recently installed a Hayward skimmer on my Intex pool. It works great while the pump is on, but when it's off, the weir door does not float. It just stays at the bottom. And even if it did float, there does not seem to be anything to stop it from opening into the pool. Seems stupid to me...

    Intex 5460

It will work. It may even come with the hose adapters needed. If not, you can buy them from Intex. Or if you have hard plumbing, you could also make your own adapter. See this thread. I suggest unplugging the copper bars. Given your pool size, you would need to run it about 5-6 hours per day.

Sounds like you'd be a good candidate for a SWG.

well this is embarrassing, not mustard algae after all

Hehe, don't worry. You're not alone. I think a lot of people have mistaken a tree reflection for a patch of algae before (myself included).
