    Skimmer Epoxy Kit

Fix finally gave up. Pool is leaking again at the skimmer. There is no obvious problem with the seam around the edge of the skimmer wall. I'm guessing its in the pipe connections to the skimmer, or between pipes themselves. Brutal dry in northern California, and the clay is dryer than it's been...

    Skimmer Epoxy Kit

Summer update. No problems, and the fix has held just fine. The real test will come in November/December, when the rains come and the water table starts shifting around the soil. But for the last six months, I've been very pleased with it.

    Skimmer Epoxy Kit

I don't recall which vendor I purchased it from. I did find another listing in the attached link below. http://www.h2oco.com/online_catalog/catalog/k/k_7.htm But if you Google BBP-1 Black Bottom Epoxy Kit, you should be able to find a vendor. I don't know if it would work with another type...

Need cheap 24V controller for valve actuation

I have a 24V Compool valve actuator that switches water flow to my rooftop solar. The original controller is broken. The pool pump runs off of its own integrated timer. Does anyone have a suggestion for a cheap 24V timer that will open/close the valve? I don't need a full setup like a...

    Skimmer Epoxy Kit

I believe the second line goes to the main drain. I noticed while draining that tube, the water level in the tube was far below the pool line. So it's possible the tube to the maindrain is plugged, or governed by a one-way valve. My diverters flap looks like it's been broken for a long time...

    Skimmer Epoxy Kit

Whoohoo! Epoxy set, and the caps came right out. I filled the skimmer, and leak is gone. The real test will be whether it lasts until the end of summer. In any case it looks like at least a short term fix for a leaky black bottom skimmer. I'll be redoing my pool deck in a year or two, and...

    Skimmer Epoxy Kit

Here is the skimmer with epoxy poured in. I've got to leave the plugs in for at least four hours, but I'll let it go a little longer. I'm watching the stuff cure in the bucket I mixed it in, and it's setting slow. It's about 55/60 degrees here, so it may need some extra time. I'll take a pic...

    Skimmer Epoxy Kit

Here is the skimmer with the tubes inserted, and cap covers in place. I had to push pretty hard to get the main drain extender in, so go easy if you are testing it. You don't want it to get stuck before you glue it. The suction side pipe was almost too easy, but two coats of the pvc glue...

    Skimmer Epoxy Kit

Well, here is the kit. It has a two part epoxy, and pvc glue. It also has two tube extenders with red caps, and a new ring for the float stop. The pvc is supposed to be dry as far down as the new fittings will go. My main drain line was easy to drain below the pools waterline. I suspect that...

    Skimmer Epoxy Kit

I'm going to guess my skimmer is leaking. [attachment=0:13qb1tlh]IMG_1416.JPG[/attachment:13qb1tlh] Water level has been stuck at the lip of the skimmer for a couple of days, and the water has remained at the same level in the pipes. I have the dreaded "black bottom skimmer". You can see an...

    Please help! Skimmer/Leak Question

How did it go? I've isolated my leak to my two pipe black bottom skimmer, and duh, saw I have two screws missing in the black plate.

    Pump basket

My pump basket has leaves and debris in it. When I shut off the pump and open the filter valve to remove the pump cover, all the debris is pushed back into the pipes where I can't retrieve it. Is this happening to others, or is there a fix?

How much evaporation do you get with your cover?

Did the bucket test twice. Both times I came home to a floating bucket, so water was leaving the bucket faster than the pool. I also did the dye test around the skimmer, light, and drain. Nothing. Humidity here in the east bay valley of the san francisco bay area is usually around 30%...

How much evaporation do you get with your cover?

I recently added a 12 mil bubble wrap pool cover to our pool. There are a couple of small gaps, probably under 7 or 8 square feet total. It's regularly in the 80's here, with very low humidity. I'm still losing about half an inch of water or so a day, or more. Could the minimal uncovered...

    Solar backflow into pool

I have a second story rooftop solar. If I shut off the pump, I get a backflow through the pump/filter/to the skimmer. I relieve this issue somewhat by closing the solar for about fifteen minutes before shutting off the pump. Apparently this allows the pipes to bleed slowly, but I still hear...
