    Quote for IG liner replacement

Hi Everyone, haven’t posted here for a while—probably because you all have helped me so much to become a semi-competant pool boy! I just got a quote (and some sticker shock!) to replace my pool liner and I have some questions. Background: this is a IG kidney 14k gal, 33 x 18 pool. I replaced...

What new hot tub would you buy?

Thank you! I will need to shop around for that. I have done most of my own maintenance but I do like to have some close and open my pool and the 2 stores I’ve used here in Yakima really suck! I’m thinking doing the wet test thing will provide some insight. I really want my wife to try some of...

What new hot tub would you buy?

Wow thanks. Some of that I never would have considered. I agree with you about the highly molded seats and the jets—but I think my wife is the opposite. Maybe we can find one with both bench seating some “Lounge chairs“ with lots of jets. She has a lot of back issues and the jets help. Gets...

Silicone sealant for plastic threads in a pool robot.

Thanks for replying, it was a smartpool. But it is finally dead after 4 years. They stopped making them. And I decided to just go ahead and get a nice new Dolphin. I appreciate it though!

Silicone sealant for plastic threads in a pool robot.

Hi, I am replacing the cord on my pool robot. When I unscrewed the part that screws over the plug in for the electrical wires there was a silicone type substance which I am thinking you are supposed to put on the threads when you screw the part in. The threads are plastic on both sides. I need...

    Vinyl pool liner

Hi everyone, haven't posted for a while. I am hoping you can put my mind at ease. We had a lot of snow here and the snow melted and brought the level of my closed pool up past the skimmer. I put my little pump in to bring the level down below the skimmer. It's a very slow pump and I planned...

Adding bleach when pump is out

I am going to incorporate both these ideas, thanks. I also have my robot in there to help circulate the water.

Adding bleach when pump is out

Hi, my pump will be in the shop for a while. I have a new-this-year vinyl liner that I would not like to ruin. I am thinking I can delete the bleach I need to add to about 10 to 1 in a bucket of water and walk around the edges pouring it in real slow? Do you guys think this would be safe? Thanks!

    Solar Blanket

Jong, I thought that also but a couple of my friends who live here told me that their pool would really heat up with the solar cover on on a sunny day. So I tried it, and it's true. We get a lot of sun here and it can also get really windy so the prevention of evaporation probably has...

    Removing old outdoor carpet adhesive

Thanks Richard I went to Home Depot and they had the goof off in gallons so I bought one. Tried a little yesterday just to see how it will work and it looks like it will do the job with a lot of elbow grease. Might look into renting or buying a pressure washer to make the job easier...

    DIY Solar Cover Roller

Johnnybonz, I finally got a chance to do it tonight and it's working great. I just used the ABS pipe and drilled holes in it and then pushed the fasteners that I bought from the Solar Roller website directly into the holes and it worked that worked fine. Whole project costs me less than $50...

    Fiberglass waterslide

I don't know about cutting it but you could probably sell that on Craigslist even if it's in bad shape. They cost $1,000 new so you should be able to get a couple hundred bucks for it or at least give it away to someone that would haul it off.

Thanks again Mark. I have ordered all the parts, I'll let you know how it turns out! You have a very pretty pool and deck, BTW. I love the brick coping.

    Removing old outdoor carpet adhesive

Hi, I ripped out the old ugly green outdoor carpet that was covering the concrete deck around my pool when I bought this house. It's been there a while (I'm sure) so it came up easy. However, in some places there is yellow residue from the carpet and the adhesive they used to lay it. I know I...

    Solar-Breeze

Believe it or not I don't work for pool skim but you can use it no matter where your return is located. At worst you might need to buy a length of PVC pipe. But I have been astounded at what a great job it does at getting all the tree junk off my surface even on a really windy day. It does such...
