    New member Pentair IC40 Problem

I have the IC40 and the only time you need to "unplug" it is when you are physically removing the unit from the plumbing or to power cycle the unit. I hate to ask the obvious, but have you checked the plug is securely inserted into the power unit and the connector screwed in tight? Have any of...

    Polaris Question

I run my Polaris 280 2hrs a day during the swim season and winter(we don't "close" our pool in SC) and 4hrs in the spring and fall when we have the most debris in the pool. My Polaris picks up everything including all of the sand my dog tracks in. Also I think it does a good job of stirring...

    Polaris 280 overhaul

Hey Dennis. My 280 has been running 2-4 hrs a day for 4 years. We don't close our pool because we have an attached spa and use it year round. Mikey probably doesn't need a complete overhaul, but his rear wheel is slipping like the drive gear or the teeth on the inside edge of the wheel are...

    Polaris 280 overhaul

I have a Polaris 280 that I absolutely love. I have named him Mikey because he will eat just about anything. However, I think it's about time to give him an overhaul. Last year he was acting up(drive gear not engaging and slipping) so I took him apart and made some adjustments to the drive...

    To intellichlor or not to.....

I have had an Intellichlor IC40 for 2 months now and just love it. I have not had to add any chemicals other than muriatic acid about once a week. I read a lot of the posts about premature failure with some of the earlier units. I hope Pentair has corrected the problem. If not their warranty...

    Pressure testing criteria

I have always heard you only need around 20 PSI for an adequate pressure test. However, any drop in pressure is indicative of a leak. Determine where the the leak is correct and retest.

We have had all kinds of critters. Frogs, moles, mice, spiders(DW's favorites), and worms. However, the most interesting was a Scarlet King Snake. He was in the skimmer basket with some pine straw. I almost grabbed him. It really freaked me out! These little guys look very similar to a Coral...

    Whats behind the name?

    Advice on Polaris vacuums?

I have the 280 with the booster pump and love it. I only have to vacuum my spa because Mikey can't climb in there. I named my 280 Mikey because he will eat anything that will fit in his throat. Pine cones, rocks, sand, frogs, etc. The best money I have spent on my pool besides the SWCG.

    "Dead Leg" issues

I have the same plumbing set up as you Florida Penguin. I have only had algae once and it definitely started in the "dead leg" on the spa booster loop. I could see the algae in the pump basket.
