    Wiring My System

Should be this guy: http://www.intermatic.com/Products/TimeSwitches/MechanicalSwitches/24Hour/T170T1400T1800Series/T1472BR.aspx I need specifics on how to wire this between the sub panel and the pump.

    Wiring My System

Alright Trouble Free Poolers, I have recently purchased a hot tub and re-run the wire run to accommodate the purchase. There is a new sub panel with a 50amp GFCI and I'm going to put a 20amp breaker in for the pool pump. The pump is wired for 240v and I have an Intermatic T1470 timer that I...

    Should I go salt?

Wish I knew more about that stuff. I am going to hold off on putting an SWCG in. I just added salt to my pool for feel. I plan to keep it around 2000ppm and haven't been in yet (maybe this weekend) but can tell just by touch that the water feels AMAZING!

Taking over care of our pool!

Thanks Jason. I remember reading that now. I should probably go back and revisit pool school articles just as a refresher, (though I have read it three complete times) there is so much in there I am sure I have forgotten a lot.

Taking over care of our pool!

Done! :whoot: Tested my pool last night and I have completed the shock cycle. Pool looks amazing and feels great, though I haven’t been in yet, I just know by touching the water! Here are my test results: FC 12.5 (letting this fall to the 4 – 8 range) CC 0 PH 7.5 TA 110 (This is a...

Taking over care of our pool!

Alright short progress report to start. Pool is super clean! I have raised the salt level to around 1100ppm and plan to raise it to around 2000ppm. Last night FC was 25.5 with 0 CC. Added 182oz of 6% bleach to raise FC to 29.6 (where I have held it for about a week). This morning the pool...

What should my water level be in regard to my skimmer? I think I may have my level a litle high.

Taking over care of our pool!

I do have a vacuum that goes to the skimmer with a skimmer plate. I have vacuumed through the filter a couple times. I have not vacuumed to waste yet. I do have brown powdery spots on the shallow end. Last night I shut the filter off entirely over night to see what happened, and this morning...

Taking over care of our pool!

I am a little skeptical on my CYA results. I have done it three times now and gotten 50, 50 and 60, but when is "can't see" "can't see"? Am I trying too hard to make it disappear, or does the test really want me to make the dot impossible to see?

Taking over care of our pool!

Yeah, I am guessing it was premature to come out of shock. I thought since I had passed the OCLT consistently I was in the clear, but I guess not...

Taking over care of our pool!

Ok TFP, Tomorrow will be two weeks since starting to get my pool in shape (see earlier pics). I still cannot see the MD in the deep end. The water is blue, but not clear. There are patches of what looks brown on the steps in the shallow end. After maintaining FC at >20ppm for almost a week...

Taking over care of our pool!

Got the unions installed yesterday and cracked open my sand filter. My sand was so badly channeled that there was a clear shot all the way around the center PVC line all the way to the bottom, so in effect my filter was doing… nothing. Right? The sand was as hard as rock as well and was...

    Should I go salt?

I see so many of you posting salt results in your testing, and I have heard many people talk about liking the way the water feels. Is there an article I am missing in pool school about salt? What are the pros and cons to implementing salt? How does one go about making this addition to a pool?

    Wondering if this forum works?

Awesome Jeff!, I have a similar story. I found this forum and started working on my pool a week ago Sunday. My pool wasn't in quite the shape yours was in, but pretty bad none the less. Through this forum and the BBB method I am in pretty good shape today! I am working a suspected filter...

My BBB Pool is expensive. Advice please!

Angel, I am curious to know what you are using to test your pool chemicals. I know I live in a different part of the country, have a different kind of pool and it is situated in a different location in my yard, but since finding this site and switching to the BBB method last Sunday, I have...

Starting BBB Method - My Initial FAS-DPD Test Results

I wouldn't come out of shock treatment yet. You lost 7.5ppm FC in about eight hours over night. Since there was no sun to dissipate your FC there is something organic still eating it up. You need to be able to go overnight and see a drop of 1ppm or less in your FC before it is a good idea to...

Taking over care of our pool!

Hahaha never mind last post. Just looked up "PVC Union" on Lowe's website. Plently of space. Will get on it! Thanks again for the amazing input all!!!

Taking over care of our pool!

Awesome. I've done some PVC work before (spa, sprinklers, etc.). What I am looking at now is a possible problem with the return side of the filter valve as there isn't much usable line near the valve. I am more than likely going to need to remake a good portion of that run. Doable at least.

Taking over care of our pool!

Rookie question probably. What are these "unions" you speak of? Gonna be difficult to install? Costly?

Taking over care of our pool!

I have suspected my filter needed more than needing backwashed for some time. I'll dig into that tonight though I am going to have to find some info on cracking that baby open. Yes the chlorinator is disconnected. The pool guy I had for a period last summer said it was more trouble than it...

Taking over care of our pool!

Linen, I was also wondering if I might be battling a mustard algea problem. If I was wouldn't I be losing FC overnight? Should I get my FC level up to 29ppm for mustard algea shock?

I Need Help..... New Pool Owner..

Hi Drumsolodude and welcome to the forum!, I am new to the forum as well (this pool season) and the vast amount of knowledge you will gain here is amazing! Start with the "pool school" as JohnT said. Read it all, and when you are done read it again! I'm not insinuating that you cannot retain...

Taking over care of our pool!

Received my TF-100 Saturday, didn’t get the opportunity to use it until Sunday evening. Here are the results as of 5:15pm: FC: 17 CC: 0 TC: 17 PH: 7 TA: 110 CH: 110 CYA: 50 Great numbers and all about where I expected them to be! I added 6% bleach to bring FC to 20ppm. I tested to be sure...
