    How long after muriatic

My husband went to Leslies :hammer: We are cleaning a huge mess after some circuit went out on the salt board. I have to give him props for fixing it himself. In the first year of having this second hand pool he has had to clean 3 ponds now. The first was because of a pipe break underground...

Pool First Aid by Natural Chemistry

Oh yes it was much worse...like I said 2 weeks off in the TX Sun, 100+ degree and lots of dirt tossed in the pool through a broken pipe; plus we have crudy paper filters which we cleaned 2-4 times a day. Like I said, I wouldnt run out and buy it unless you wanted to save some time...if it were...

Pool First Aid by Natural Chemistry

We had just hit the killed algae stage, very cloudy white water just hours from lime green. We were at the phase that usually takes another week for things to clear up, I put this junk in and the best way I can describe it "coagulated" all the stuff into an easy to vac material at the bottom...

Pool First Aid by Natural Chemistry

We just used this product, Pool First Aid, as we had it left over from out last pool store manipulation fest. I decided why not toss it in since I had already $PAID$ for it the last time we had a disaster. Anyway, this stuff worked wonders. I have not seen problems with my numbers because of...

Need to shock and Need CYA

Okay I need to raise my CYA which is at 20. I also need to shock. I am thinking of using store bought shock as a double duty...how much will a 1lb bag of the Dichlor raise the CYA of a 20k pool?

    Using Chlor. Tabs; Why not?

Thanks again. I have gotten this same answer several times and it isnt what I was asking...but I am pretty darn sure I need Bleach to clean a mess now :-D And I thought this was the Deep End...

    It's been green awhile

You are better off with bleach, no luck finding 12% at pool stores either. I would focus on bleach right now. Last time I did the tango with Leslies for weeks, 2 steps forward 1 step back...once I found this place and did the bleach my numbers just went perfect and my pool cleared...I believe...

    It's been green awhile

Well it is a TX thing this week...I am in DFW too; will get my kit Monday. We have a mess here, ours is from turning everything off to fix a busted pipe. The bleach will work, got us out of it once before and here we are again :hammer:

    Using Chlor. Tabs; Why not?

Hmm the liquidator sounds interesting, thanks for that. I was asking about the floater in ADDITION to using bleach dumps, sort of a back-up plan, bridge any gaps that may occur...not as an only form of defense.

    Using Chlor. Tabs; Why not?

Okay what I have gathered is that the Chlor released by the tabs is too slow to do what I thought possible...my question has been answered :-D

    Using Chlor. Tabs; Why not?

I am not looking to raise CYA at this point. What my post asked was whether or not a floater was a valuable tool in bridging FC gaps during cleaning of a huge mess. Meaning if I pour bleach in the Am and again the next AM, would the floater help maintain the FC in between those dumpings.

    Using Chlor. Tabs; Why not?

Thanks for this info...but all of your questions to me were answered in my post; I am not sure read about my situation. My only real question was whether or not a floater was a valuable tool in bridging any possible gap between bleach dumpings while trying to clean a huge mess. Meaning If I do a...

    Using Chlor. Tabs; Why not?

NO we have never used these, dont even own one yet. I in fact have not used anything in this pool from the pool store, no shock, no tabs, nothing but BBB so far. I am asking if it is something that is worth using considering our low CYA and what we are trying to accomplish. If you read my post...

    Using Chlor. Tabs; Why not?

Okay so here is what I am dealing with when-a-good-pool-goes-bad-long-t9069.html Take in mind that nearly 1/3 of the pool was emptied; at least to under the returns. I am wondering if using a floater with Chlor. tabs would be a good idea to keep things up between bleach dumps. I know that...

When a good pool goes BAD LONG

I think you are right, time and bleach should do it...it did it for us last time. My husband is a better man than I, well he should be LOL Anyway, we really did not want to redo decking as well, sigh so under we went. Once we get this pool back up and running, I will have to say I believe that...

When a good pool goes BAD LONG

Well the good thing about this whole ordeal is that I really wanted to get the CYA down but willing to drain, now being forced to drain below the returns I am sure it is down :goodjob: You would still rec. DiChlor even at the risk of ending with a huge CYA reading?

When a good pool goes BAD LONG

Yes we have turned the filters back on...we are in the process of getting all of the dirt out and then will really hit it with bleach.

When a good pool goes BAD LONG

We noticed a slight decrease in the return flow, hmmm need to clean some filters maybe? Noticed some lifting of the decking, Good ol' Texas ground shift? Then it happened! Dirt shooting from the return, what could it be...surely it isnt?...Oh God a broken pipe!!! This is a 2nd hand pool so we...

    Safety Fence

Looking for a rec on mesh safety fence... Willing to do it ourselves, but have no idea what to pay for it. If having it done is a bit more, well time is money and we would rather be swimming!! From what I have seen with online quotes it seems like it is only a few hundred $'s difference, but...
