M over-wall skimmer accomidates about 12" of variation! BEAT THAT, LOL!

Why arn't in-wall skimmers made elongated to accomidate more of a fluxuation in water level and have some kind of adjustment or maybe a floating basket?

I want to build a pool that lasts. I'm thinking a Doughboy, with stainless steel fasteners. Fasteners that are in contact with other metal pieces, put grease on the threads and the bottom track (if its metal), plates and bottom of the wall and uprights, I'll spray automotive undercoating on...

I want to coat the inside of the wall before installing the liner.

When sprayed on metal, does it protect against rust? How much would I need for about 350 square feet and what is the approximate cost?

I won't tell you what I'm thinking, but does anyone know if grease or oil is bad for a liner? Does it deteriorate it? If so, is there a certain type, like silicon oil that is ok for it and may even protect it? thank you

My dad did something like that with a pool once. The pools Ive seen have enough room in the track to wedge a piece of sheet metal (like wall thickness, maybe a little thicker) into it. If it doesn't fit, just put it on the track, rivit/bolt it to the wall and bury it with the sand at the bottom...

I don't sell them, but I've had experiences with both. I've had 4 pools, 2 with the over the wall and 2 with the thru wall skimmer. The 2 with the thru wall skimmer not only eventually had some leaking issues, which rusted the wall (one dripped down the wall for a few months from the inlet and...

Also, what are two qualities it has over the thru-wall skimmer? (yes, it does have qualities over the thru-wall skimmer.)

Doughboy is the only pool company with the elongated skimmer opening, correct? And I've heard that usually you have to stick with the same brand when replacing the wall, otherwise it might not fit. And Lomart is a division of Doughboy, correct? So I'd imagine this pool is a Lomart Doughboy...

I'm looking for parts for this pool. There is a sticker on the wall that says Doughboy, but the frame looks like an older version of the Lomart 'Sierra Pines' or 'Grey Mist'. The wall was replaced around 1982 and I'm not sure if its the same as the original. But if anyone has either a wall like...

You'd need 24' pool tracks, even then, you might end up with the first and last upright really unequally spaced compared to the rest of them.
