Clean my ~90 foot pool and calcified natural rocks

Re: Blasting limescale off my pool walls - DONE & REPORT POS I continue to explore the best way to clean my ~90 foot pool and calcified natural rocks. The most expensive piece of the job seems to be the device to vacuum up the used blasting media from the bottom of my pool. Someone posted...

Clean my ~90 foot pool and calcified natural rocks

Re: Blasting limescale off my pool walls - DONE & REPORT POS Hmm, a 1.5 HP motor attached to the gadget you linked. My pool has a 1.5 HP motor installed already. Here's an idea -- can anyone fill in the missing pieces? step 1: My pool pump can provide suction, and I can use it as a...

Clean my ~90 foot pool and calcified natural rocks

I notice the manufacturer of Kieseritealso offers a slightly more abrasive formulation for blasting natural rock waterlines and pebble-tec. This would solve my situation exactly: I have an 83-foot pool with about half of it incorporating a rock waterline. The rock has become badly calcified. The...

how to figure out which Swimquip Sta-Rite skimmer I have?

Re: how to figure out which Swimquip Sta-Rite skimmer I hav Thanks James. I replaced several of the baskets when I moved in, which looked pretty much exactly like the ones in your picture. Attached are a few more pix with measurements. Is this unambiguously the U-3? I need to try to take a...

Waterfall suggestion: 75 or 120 GPM? (video)

Thanks for that awesome analysis, very helpful. I really appreciate it. You asked about the valve. I don't know what that valve is for -- possible that it was intended to drive the planned solar installation? Today is the first time I've touched that valve, so I don't know much about it. Can I...

Waterfall suggestion: 75 or 120 GPM? (video)

numbers! Re: Waterfall suggestion: 75 or 120 GPM? (video) OK, here are the numbers: There is a valve at the head of the waterfall pump, as shown in some of the pictures above. I found that changing the position of that valve affected the PSI a great deal, and the vacuum level slightly. I...

Waterfall suggestion: 75 or 120 GPM? (video)

Thanks. As stupid as it sounds, I don't know for sure which drain hole will allow me to measure vacuum/suction, and which measures pressure. I don't want to wreck my new gauges. Which gauge goes on which end of the pump? (You can describe it in terms of "nearer the motor" and "nearer the pump...

how to figure out which Swimquip Sta-Rite skimmer I have?

I'm trying to determine what skimmer type I have on the pool that came with my house. Removing the basket, I see 8560-87, which suggests to me it is part 8560-8, which fits on a Swimquip Sta-Rite Pool Skimmer. I don't know which exact model I have. How would I determine this? I would...

have guages, now what? Re: Waterfall suggestion: 75 or 120 G I have received both a pressure gauge and a vacuum gauge. Mark, can you suggest where I should screw each of these gauges in to take the measurements?

how to diagnose and fix weak suction for suction cleaners?

Re: how to diagnose and fix weak suction for suction cleaner Thanks Dave. What kind of cap (for rigging the gauge up) do I need to buy? I can order it today. And how do you close off skimmers?

how to diagnose and fix weak suction for suction cleaners?

I have several automatic pool cleaners that rely on suction. They didn't work well when we moved in a few months ago -- someone somewhat knowledgeable ascribed their listless performance to "weak suction" so we've been relying on a pressure-side Polaris 280. That person may or may not have...

one more pic of piping that is in front of my waterfall pump. Not sure what the three pipes at top are for -- perhaps a planned solar installation? There are pipes for solar pool heating on the west side of the house, but no solar system was built.

Thanks. I see two plugs on my pump that might accommodate a 1/4" gauge. I don't see any other obvious ports on the other piping. Are these the two areas that need gauges? (photos attached.)

thanks mas985, I will order both from amazon. where would I find these drain plugs for the pump and for the suction side? How can I figure out if I will need a 1/4 thread adapter on the suction side? Will I need to throw a circuit breaker before doing installation?

Re: Waterfall suggestion: 75 or 120 GPH? (video) Getting answers beyond guesses for your questions may be difficult. Is there a way to install a pressure and vacuum gauge on my existing Hayward SP4015NS pump? As I understand things that would give us an authoritative answer. One thing I may...

Waterfall suggestion: 75 or 120 GPM? (video)

I'm contemplating replacing the pump on a waterfall in an effort to save money on electricity. The current pump dedicated to the waterfall is a Hayward SP4015NS attached to a 1.5 HP Northstar motor. The pump I'm contemplating replacing it with is a Hayward TriStar waterfall pump. Hayward makes...

How do I lower the water level of my pool? (valve pics!)

Thanks once again, jblauert. This is working! Trying to answer your question... I would not list pool care among my competencies. But my understanding is that these are cartridge filters, not sand or DE filters. To wash them you open them up and hose them out -- I don't think backwashing is...

How do I lower the water level of my pool? (valve pics!)

We've had heavy rains and I'd like to lower the water level in my pool. Besides siphoning it, or relying on an external pump, can you advise how I could lower the water level a few inches? There are exhaustive pix of my equipment pad, as well as some solid analysis of what each valve does, by...

in-ground spa: any $ savings with a cover? what to get?

I've sent a message to "Spa Cover Direct," which supposedly is a manufacturer of spa covers. We'll see if they have something suitable. If anyone has positive or negative experiences with this company, I'd love to hear them. Link: http://www.spacoverdirect.com/

How to refill reagent bottles OR dropper to fit big bottle?

I'm testing my water every day now so I bought bulk Taylor reagents in the 16 oz size. What's the best way to refill those little bottles, the ones that came with my test kit? Alternately, have people found a way to fit droppers to the large sized bottles? Thanks!
