Temporary replacement for a filter air bleed valve/gauge?

Good advice and much appreciated. I have been successful holding it closed with my finger for a few mins. Just wondered if there was a pliable rubber stopper or something of the sort that would work temporarily and not damage threads.

Full acid wash vs. no drain acid wash vs. partial?

Thanks for the reply -- I've started the process... pH 7.0 CYA 40 FC 18 Alk 100 with 2 prob -- algae and staining over 8 years, what sequence do you recommend? SLAM first **OR** drain, acid wash then SLAM? I realize that the algae is a bigger problem than is visualized, but problem...

Full acid wash vs. no drain acid wash vs. partial?

Hello! Before hiring someone to acid wash, I wanted to get the group's thoughts. I have 2 probs.. 1. For the last couple of years, I have had persistent algae in shallow end on steps, see photo. Tried to shock, scrub, shock, scrub, to no avail. It recedes if FC is in high normal range...

Neighbor's house foreclosure -- pool needs bleach

My neighbor has moved out in anticipation of foreclosure. Their pool has turned green and I"m sure there are some interesting things going on inside. No water flow, electricity is off. Was considering running over there and just dumping some bleach in the water to prevent things from...

I've defected to the dark side! New peristaltic pump

thanks for your help. I'm going to call USWatersystems tomorrow to see what they say and will post back any info I get from them. ADDENDUM: Okay I talked with Stenner this morning and it seems like the index pin had loosened. Ted from Stenner talked me through the whole thing and it took...

I've defected to the dark side! New peristaltic pump

Dave, Thanks for the reply.... I didn't specify which type of tube when ordering, just the standard, but in reading i now see there is a santaprene vs. tygothane. Is one better than the other as far as durability? I think it's a #1 tube, the tube itself has "100psi max" but there is a bit "1"...

I've defected to the dark side! New peristaltic pump

I wanted to see how many folks have replaced their tubing? Looks like mine has worn out. The Stenner is running 10 hrs/day since may 2012. Recently FC dropped and I nipoticed the pump was running but not milking the tube. Took it apart and the tube is pretty hard. Rotors seem okay otherwise...

New Pool Pebble finish - Discoloration Issues

I have a similar issue about 2-3 months into a new pebble sheen finish but have hesitated on calling them back to look. I've read on TFP that they can come back and repeat the acid wash. I was not sure about how effect that would be and if it was worth the hassle. Curious to see others'...

I've defected to the dark side! New peristaltic pump

Okay...i won't worry about the clicking. Here are my numbers...seems reasonable since a 3 ppm FC loss for the pool size = ~180oz of 6% bleach. Haven't looked at the excel spreadsheet yet, was just going by feel, adjusting 0.5 / 1 on the pump setting. pH 7.5 FC 5.5 CC 0 Alk 90 Ca 290 CYA 40

I've defected to the dark side! New peristaltic pump

Couple of questions for you all...does your Stenner pump make a clicking noise every time it milks the tube in the pump? Also, how often do you fill your barrell and with what? I have been using 6% bleach from Sams $835 for 3 182 oz bottles. With the 30k and sunlight I go thru about 182 oz /...

I've defected to the dark side! New peristaltic pump

Hi All, Another happy peristaltic pumper here :-D . I appreciate everyone's assistance during our remodel. In the process, I thought about O2 (PB recommendation) to pucks to Liquidator to Stenner. I splurged and got the pump/container combo and it's been great. I promised to post a picture...

Suggestions on first test / step

Okay so the remodel is finally done and after treading water with the chemistry, here's what I have. Not sure what to do first since i'm new to BBB. Oh, and we had a dead squirrel in the pool yesterday so I'm thinking of shocking (after reading the thread on such matters). Thanks in advance...

    Startup question BBB

Yes, the plaster/sheen is new. Based on some info from Pool school, the FC seems low as well as the CH and CYA. I guess the CYA will increase slowly with the pucks, but where should I keep FC since target is 3 on the chart? I was worried that bleach would affect the new plaster (pouring over...

    Skimmer too low...need suggestion
