    First Salt Cell Cleaning

Hayward makes a cleaning stand for this purpose. If you don't have one you can use a bucket but make sure to stand the cell upright with the control cable at the top of the bucket. Do not submerge the control cable end in the bucket. If you could somehow "cap off" the end opposite the cord...

    Broken drain plug help

Maybe drill a series of holes on both sides of the hole you currently have. Drill the holes so they overlap the original hole so you sort of make a slot out of the holes. Place a flat blade screwdriver in the slot and turn.

I suggest you read this article on why borates are added to the pool. It may answer all of your questions. so-you-want-to-add-borates-to-your-pool-why-and-how-t4921.html

    pump strainer basket issue

I agree with this. Check for air leak around the stem of the valve by using running water concentrated on the stem area. As many have said post pictures of the plumbing on the suction side of the pump, this would help in the diagnoses. I would suspect air leak at the stem. Maybe take the valve...

Looking for an accurate electronic pH tester

I have both an electronic test meter (Lovibond 5 in 1 Photometer) and a liquid reagent kit similar to the TF-100. I have performed many tests to verify the accuracy of the Lovibond Photometer against the liquid reagents. I feel the Lovibond gives me accurate results. My pool water is crystal...

Doing my first tests and I have some questions

You may want to do a quick forum search in regards to raising calcium. It appears some brands of ice melt can be used thus saving you quite a bit of money. calcium-hardness-can-i-use-this-to-save-t28499.html?hilit=raising calcium hardness

    Lovibond Photometer

I did send Lovibond an e-mail earlier today but due to the time difference they may have already left for the day. I purchased the photometer and reagent tabs directly from Lovibond several years ago. I am in need of more reagent tabs and was hoping someone knew of a United States source of...

    Polaris 280 tail sweep inop

Holding the hose level (horizontal) approx. 20 feet.

    Polaris 280 tail sweep inop

The scrubber was sticking past the end of the hose by approx. 1/4 in. I moved it flush with the end but still no sweeping action. Maybe the cold water is making the sweep hose to stiff to sweep?

    Polaris 280 tail sweep inop

I have completly dis-assembled the cleaner looking for debris, bad o-rings etc. Everything looks ok. No obstructions in any orifice, water sprays hard out of the tail scrubber end but the hose does not move side to side.

    Polaris 280 tail sweep inop

No holes in the sweep hose, not plugged or damaged in any way. Is there a pressure gauge that can be used to check the pump pressure at the wall fitting and if so what should the pressure be?

    Polaris 280 tail sweep inop

The tail sweep on my 280 does not move from side to side, it just drags straight behind the unit. The cleaner moves along the bottom, climbs the wall, etc. There is no blockage in the cleaner, hoses, or back-up valve. There is no pressure loss at the wall fitting or releif valve. The tail sweep...
